Here is the contact info for the domain: Domain Name: ALLOFMP3.COM Created on..............: Tue, Jun 20, 2000 Expires on..............: Fri, Jun 20, 2008 Record last updated on..: Thu, Feb 23, 2006 OOO MediaServices Ivan Fedorov Planetnaya str. 29 Moscow, 125167 RU Phone: +7 095 506-5258 Fax..: +7 095 506-5258 Slonaker 04-04-2006, 12:27 PM I have talked to several people online who have used the service and have not had any problems. The site is selling music that they do not have the right to sell. That is why the music is cheap. The site is Russian, and does not violate Russian law. That is why they can stay in business. As far as I know, you are breaking US law if you use the service, though. Slonaker shifty 04-04-2006, 01:01 PM technically, US copyright law states that you can download music all day long if you want to, you just can't distribute it (e.g. upload it) to others. So, I think this might fall into the guidelines of being legit for the consumer. Just stupid to hafta pay for it, you could download songs online for free all day long and not break any laws. Just don't upload! the russians running the site in this case are pirating the music and violating US copyright law to get you that music, though. there are several sites out there like this one - i just don't trust em with my personal information. if they'll break US laws with music, why not with your identity or credit card info? hmmm.... flatblackclassic 04-04-2006, 10:21 PM technically, US copyright law states that you can download music all day long if you want to, you just can't distribute it (e.g. upload it) to others. I just know I have been using the service for several years now with no problems. Maybe they are just waiting to get enough credit card numbers, then they will drain the bank accounts of thousands of stupid unsuspecting americans right? shifty 04-05-2006, 05:43 PM hehe, let's hope not. i guess i'm just a little leery of Russia and anything i know sounds illegal out of the country - primarily because everything normally is. about 10 years ago when i started dorking around with pirated software and things of that nature, Russians had everything - they owned all the FTP servers with software on them, bypassed every copyright law known to man and most of your heavy trading of CC numbers, passports, fake ID makers and other crap like that originated in Russia. it's a little more widespread now, but i believe they are still #1 on the list for stolen credit card number sales...i could be wrong. i was talking about this thread last night w/my girfriend's roommate who apparently has also been using this service with good results for the past year or two. i still don't feel comfortable, but ... maybe they're not bogus. i just had someone add some fraudulent charges on my Amex and this all spawned from me purchasing from a vendor either at this forum or over at LS1tech...so if it can happen in my own country ..... yeah. :D this has been an interesting thread though. i appreciate the content. barn9 04-07-2006, 10:28 PM Why do you think pointing a loaded gun at your own head and pulling the trigger is called "Russian" roulette? Shifty makes a good point. I know a young married couple that recently had their bank account emptied by a Russian scammer, and there is little chance the theif will ever be caught, or even questioned by any Russian authorities, let alone Americans. |
