I want to make my back up lights the turn signals.... how do I go about making them seperate from the brake and running lights

That can be done, just wire from the turn signal switch to the bulb receptacle. I caution you, though, to check with local law enforcement first (if this is a street driven vehicle). In my area of Indiana, I've been pulled over for blue dots.

You also have to cut the brake lamp wire that feeds up the steering column to the turn signal switch. I believe it is the white one.
