piecesparts 12-03-2007, 09:16 PM I have a quick question on this build. Where did you get your tubular motor mounts for the frame? I have found others that are close, but those have eluded me so far.
By the way, this truck is going together real well, great job....

67gmc283 12-23-2007, 05:29 PM when can I get red in line for some of that handy work ?? TEXAS
BACKYARD88 12-26-2007, 04:09 AM Looking good Don!!
ChevyChad 01-01-2008, 08:11 AM coming along quite nicely! :) Let me know when you are ready for me to go add a little flair into the mix ;)
I have noticed that you like to use the moroso spiral flow mufflers on your LS builds. I was thinking about running the Flowmaster delta 50's, would you know how they compare??
68 short step 01-04-2008, 03:59 PM IMO flowmasters and borla sound like crap on these LS engines....magnaflow, and the moroso spiral flows sound the best on these LS engines...thats just my opinon tho..
jkade 01-04-2008, 04:02 PM IMO flowmasters and borla sound like crap on these LS engines....magnaflow, and the moroso spiral flows sound the best on these LS engines...thats just my opinon tho..
I agree on the mufflers, I don't know about moroso but magnaflows are a good choice.
68 short step, you are doing some damn nice work by the way:metal:
68 short step 01-04-2008, 04:06 PM thank you jkade, BTW did you sell your red truck????
ATP----you can here killer71 sound clips of the spiral flows and jkade has a sound clip of the magnaflows....

Nah, decided I couldn't part with it, I am just going to spend a little more money on a vintage air, weather stripping, and some dynamat and she will handle a little baby just fine. That thing is like a drug to me anyways, I have had a 5.0 mustang, and ls1 trans am but this thing is a thrill to drive. I have never owned anything that will blow the back tires off so easy and for so long:lol:
slammed1 01-04-2008, 09:11 PM Awesome build thread!! I really need to find me a 6.0 to place in my truck but I guess for now its going to be a traditional 350 or 400 small block.....unless I find a great deal anyway. Your in Tulsa and about 1 hour and 45 minutes from me,I may want to check it out in person next time Im in the area if its possible ( I will pm soon). I like your gas tank, and the body work is coming along really nice, kudos to the body guys.
I noticed the driveshaft coming out of the tranny ran up hill......it appears you may have to alter the trans mount to raise the tailshaft up or really pay close attention to the rear pinion angle when its all said and done........just an observation,I know when you have it on the ground with all the body panels and such on it you will be able to check it better.
Subscribed!! Keep us posted.
sdwolff98 01-07-2008, 05:25 AM Hey Shifty,

68 SS where is the speedo for this motor/tranny? I know it is electric but curious where I will pull from on mine?
68 short step 01-08-2008, 01:15 PM 68 SS where is the speedo for this motor/tranny? I know it is electric but curious where I will pull from on mine?
umm, not quite sure what your asking....but hope this helps...im running a autometer electric speed-o and the signal is coming from the PCM (VSS output), another way is to tap into the VSS wire and then to the speed-o signal input.....if that doesnt help, LMK and ill try to answer what your asking..;)
AGRV8D 01-11-2008, 11:49 PM Just read this entire thread, giving me some good ideas. Great Build and whatnot. I will have to check out Carlos' shop when i get back to the house.

I hate that. I lost mine for about a month. The truck was not ready to be run yet so no big deal. I found it in the key box under a business card. I still haven't made some copies!
SCOTI 02-15-2008, 12:58 PM no updates, just still at bodyshop/paint prision.....
Did the 'warden' ever contact you or is he still AWOL?
Richard8971 02-15-2008, 02:03 PM I'm curious why you didn't shave the side marker lights. I know they were standard on the '68 but the large rear window was optional in '67.
At least keep people guessing! I love the way your truck is comming out.
Can't wait to see it finished.

GRIMSS 04-14-2008, 06:49 AM That happened to a local shop near me and screwed a bunch of guys. Hope you get your truck back.
Hart_Rod 04-14-2008, 08:49 PM 68SS,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I had a similar problem when I had the interior done in my 48. I just don't get why some people find it so hard to treat people decently or honestly. Issues like that are why I try to do everything myself, even if I end up messing it up and having to re-do it. Sad part is, that if had been honest with you and communicated what was going on, you would have been upset, but not to the point of wanting to sue him. I hope everything works out. Take care.
ChevyDude 04-15-2008, 04:58 AM wow the last hour i read through the whole thread and then came to this. OMG this sucks!!! It happened with Lil' Red and I will never let another paint shop paint my hot rods again. Gonna paint them myself!
jj_adams319 04-16-2008, 07:46 PM Sorry to hear about this...i'm sure u'll get it back one way or the other.
There must be a way u can contact the shop owner directly... if the truck is taking up space there, if sure he'd gladly let u pick it up.
watahyahknow 04-16-2008, 08:38 PM maibe the chamber of comerce has the addres of the owner of the store or at least the legal owner .
he might be locked out of his store himself when he owes money to either the bank or the taxman
class01 04-26-2008, 02:31 AM any updates? i might be down in that area this weekend, ill try to stop by a check things out.hopefully everything is good with your truck. Carlos "acted" like a nice guy when i met him a while back.
68 short step 05-12-2008, 06:06 PM ok after a deal was made with the actual owner the shop carlos operates out of, i was able to make a deal and get my truck painted and back.......CARLOS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BODYWORK OR PAINT OF THIS TRUCK.
REPEAT::::CARLOS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BODYWORK OR PAINT OF THIS TRUCK.
cappel restoration in dickinson TX did the paint and body... here are a few sneak peaks at the truck.. better pics are on the way.
