Hi I installed an American Autowire Wiring Kit in my 65 Chevy Pickup. Everything works good except the Rear lights.
Issue 1. The rear lights do not come on when i pull the light switch on the dash
Issue 2. When the lights are on the brake lights do not work.
Issue 3. When the lights are on the turn signals do not work.
The front lights work fine
The brake lights and signals work when the lights are off.
I'm thinking it might be the headlight switch, however it is brand new.
anyone have any ideas?? Thanks in advance!

This is a grounding issue. Your taillight housing isn't grounded, IMHO, which makes for some weird ground paths, causing the maladay.

I have the same problem as your #3.
I haven't got around to trying to fix it yet though :(

Thanks for your advice, and i went out and sanded the paint off so the grounding points are better, and got rid of problem #3, so the signals work when the lights are on. But the rear lights still dont come on and the brake lights do not work when the rear lights are pulled to be on.
Do you think its possible that the wires may be backwards where i hooked them up to the wires coming out of the taillight housing?
The wires coming from the fuse block are brown, yellow, and green
The wires coming out of the tailight housing are black and red.
Right now i have brown going to the black wires and the green and yellow wires going to the red for the signals.
thanks again....man this is a pain

maybe a bad turn signal switch or ground. check the column harness with a test light. all the brakes and turn signals come out of the column. should be able to trace it from there easily.

65step, yes, check your wires. It sounds like some previous owners have been at it, and no wiring diagram will apply (IMHO). Simply test each wire, identify it as to function, and wire it @ the rear lights as applicable.
