i am having some trouble but dont know if you can help or not here lately my pc is running slow and my nouse is going crazy not sure if it is 2 problems or one the mouse is a cordless logitech optical its a few years old but lately i am having to click on things several times to make it work when i click it some times i get the O with a slash in it i can click it again and it will work it dosnt matter if im on this site or any other or programs on the pc do the same thing also the pc started running slow the same time this started i have ran adware,cccleaner, spybot,disk cleanup, defragged with no results any comments would be appreciated

I had a similar situation last week. If you're running XP you need to connect a wired keyboard and disable pointers to any other mouse.

as for the mouse - make sure the batteries are charged. try a different mouse, see if it still does it. optical mice just have these kinds of problems sometimes. cordless just multiplies the number of problems you could have.

i really do not see anything out of the ordinary except for the fact you have enough freakin toolbars to kill a horse. unless you're using them exceptionally, i would go into the Control Panel, choose Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the AOL Toolbar and the Yahoo! Toolbar. McAfee Toolbar (totally optional) would be a manual removal (put a checkmark next to that line in Hijackthis and click "FIX" while all browser windows are closed). The HP Toolbar is totally optional. something that would have come with your computer.

I don't even really see anything that is running at startup that would cause problems.

one other thing you can look for - if you find your "My Computer" icon - which is usually either in the Start menu or on the Desktop, you can right-click it (right-hand mouse button) and choose "Manage" from the popup menu that will show. Inside there you'll find the "Event Viewer". you can review the Application Log for errors to see if maybe something is farkin' up on you (look for a red circle with an X in it, then double-click that message), and you might also look in the System Log for problems also. if you want to bounce any odd findings off me, feel free.

i would check and make sure you have some drive space left. i showed another member recently how to clean up "temp" and unnecessary files from the computer to free up space and this often speeds stuff up. the suggestions are in this thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showpost.php?p=1681268&postcount=4

give those things a shot. let me know if you see anything. sometimes random slowdowns can be caused by faulty equipment - i would even disconnect the wireless mouse (turn it off and unplug from teh computer) and use a plain old mouse for a few days and see if maybe the mouse really is malfunctioning and this is causing a system slowdown for you (the two events could be related).

i hope one of the things in this list helps - it's a lot of stuff and all over the place, but ... when i don't see anything clearly wrong, that's about all i can offer.
