I'm in West Nashville, five miles from downtown. I am a Vandy grad student, but I will be leaving/graduating soon. It is a great town!

My wife works in Nashville at Vanderbelt and is an RN. Her and eight other nurses have an apartment in Nashville and she works two or three 12 hour shifts 7p-7a then comes back to Western Kentucky. They pay $50.00 an hour there so is worth the trip. Nashville is a great town. She has met a lot of country singers there at the hospital. Hank Williams Jr. not too long ago. Rather his daughter was her patent but Hank was there.

I just graduated from MTSU near Nashville last August. Murfreesboro is a nice town if you don't want to be *in* Nashville. I think Rutherford county is supposed to have the best schools if you care about that (Rutherford is Smyrna and Murfreesboro for cities). Be prepared for 10% sales taxes. I gotta say going to Alaska with the 0% sales tax has been kind of nice (although prices make up for it, it's nice to not have a hidden cost in the price).

Why could I never get to say hi to anyone near Nashville when I was actually there. ;)

Anyway, Nashville is a good town IMO. I'll be back there to visit friends once I get on a regular work schedule here.

Where is the map that shows where the members live? We need to make a sticky or something to make it easy to find. Anyway, it would be a way for Ed to see who's around.

Cool, you goin to have a garage sale before you move?

The family is, but as for truck stuff, I'm too much of a pack rat to get rid of much. Got a few odds and ends, but nothing that's too much of a hassle to move. Two motors, an engine hoist, and two BIG tool cabinets make everything else look easy.

Hey Ed, I'm the closest to you. I live in White House, which is in the same county as Hendersonville, and about 10 minutes from you. I'm there a couple times a week and every Sunday with my in-laws :(. Where are you moving in Hendersonville.

We need to meet up one day.

One that Luv forgot to mention is BIGCHEVYMAN is in Portland, about 20 minutes north of you in Sumner Co.

Off Old Shackle Island Rd, North of 386. Don't want to be any more specific than that on the internet. Lots of nutjobs and thieves trolling the internet. I'll send you a PM with more detailed location.

I talked to him the other day. He said he was still living out of boxes, but he loved Hendersonville.

ed455
07-02-2006, 04:32 PM
Yep, I'm here. Hendersonville is great. Seen lots of classic chevy trucks around. As stated, I'm living out of boxes but it's getting better every day. The garage is WAY too small and only has ONE outlet. Built shelves and my work bench yesterday. With only a 20x20 garage, space is at a premium. The work bench is 12' long though and I'm putting shelves up high everywhere I can. I cannot be in attendance at the BBQ mentioned earlier in the thread because I'll be out of town.

Had our first church service this morning and I have an awesome church. They welcomed my family with a reception after church and everyone stayed for it. Very cool. I think I'm gonna like it here even though I wasn't too excited about moving to the area.

How do you like the traffic?? Probably not much worse than Lexington though!

ed455
07-03-2006, 09:30 PM
So far the traffic has been bearable. However, I have lived in Atlanta, GA Houston, TX, and Dallas, TX so I can handle traffic OK. Parts of Lexington (Man O' War) are worse than than what I've seen here so far. Everyone complains about Gallatin Rd. traffic but it doesn't seem that bad.

Guy two doors down has an old truck I can't exactly tell what it is cause it's buried in his garage.

I wanna say Clarksville, but I'm not sure. The production company that shoots the shows is located in Franklin.

I was told that the shop was in Franklin somewhere, but it always looks like Lebanon or Mount Juliet when I see it on TV. I know their land used to "test" was in rural Giles county (I grew up in Lynnville). One of the new guys on Trucks is from Waco (5 miles or so away from Lynnville in northern Giles county) and does the Paintucation series of educational videos.

And still they come. I am relatively new here myself at a year on the boards. I've lived here most of my life and wasn't aware of all the truck guys I lived within a couple of hours of. All I can say is Ya'll come.

Well, I don't know how I missed this thread, but... welcome to Nashville and the Middle Tennessee area.

I'm from Franklin, but currently live in Lebanon. I've lived in Nashville proper and Cookeville, over the years. To me, there's no place quite like Tennessee.

There's one thing about Tennessee: if you don't like the weather here, just hang around a little while, it'll change.

I hope that you enjoy your time in Nashville/Hendersonville. Nice place.
