My son (orangeuavol) and I added to our fleet this military Blazer. 4X4 3/4 ton rated, 6.2 (379ci) diesel, low miles, ps & brakes, dual pipes with all military equipment still intact. Drives perfect. We are now running it on 100% homemade bio-diesel made from french fry oil. (around $1.00 per gal. cost so far). He made his own still .(for bio-not booze:lol: ). Getting around 20 miles per gal. so far. 3.08 posi rear axle-open front. Here are some pictures:

That's awsome, do you have to do any mods to the engine (obviously i don't know enough about this) to make it run on the bio diesel

Nothing needs to changed. (you will have to change the fuel filter a couples times close togather when you start using it as it "cleans" the system of all gunk build-up in tank and lines--we found this out yesterday as it would barely run. Perfect now after filter change. The $1.00 per gallon figure is for the chemicals to convert the waste vegtable oil which we get free just for picking it up.

I`d expect it to gain alot of weight drinking frie oil.Ah jeez,sorry.Looks like a nice one.How many miles on it?My son has one I found him a couple years ago.I think it had around 50,000.He was looking at some pretty crappy one,but his is clean this one.

Here are some links. My suggestion is to read, read, and re-read until you fully understand the process then make some one liter test batches with virgin oil then move on to waste cooking oil. Just google biodiesel and there will be tons of info.

Hey,I just noticed the grille,81/82.I didn`t know the military was using Blazers before`84.

My uncle has one that looks just like that except it's the desert camo paint scheme. Wish he would sell it (it'll sit and rust to a pile becuz of a bad tranny).

Very nice! I've only seen one ex-military truck in civilian hands around here, and when I tracked the owner down and asked he said he bought it out west. How to you actually buy an ex-military truck?

After 20 years or its no longer economically repairable or obsoleted by something new the goverment dispositions it to the DMRO. Other gov agencies or local goverments get first dibs, the rest then goes to a private liquidation company for consignment sales.
