The rebuilt 350 engine that is in and came with my 66 swbss requires major work and I am considering replacing it. In addition, the 3 speed automatic transmission I am not fond of and am considering its replacment. I have recently lowered the front 4 inches and the back 6 inches, added power brakes (front disk rear drum) and power steering and put 17 inch wheels. Sooooo ..., I am seeking suggestions on engine and transmission replacements. My first inclination is a 383 Stroker 450 HP/ 700R4 pairing. This is not intended to be a daily driver but at the same time, I would like the option of street cruising. Any input would be appreciated.
