I damm near resemble that! We finally got rid of our 34 year old trailer house and are now livin' in a 1979 Chevy motorhome borrowed from an indian uncle that lives on the reservation! Cant park the Jimmy in front of it 'cause its buried under tons of shyt in the shop from our house till the new one gets here! Guess I could park my pickup there to make a similar setting. I'd like to order one if you could give me info, Man! Later---DAC Forgot to say that I had AMT's original Blazer kit in '72 and I still remember it well even tho I lost it in a flood in June of that year. Very well detailed kit IMO, and I'm guessing this is probly a re-pop of that one. Green Monster 05-17-2006, 11:37 PM I thought that picture of the model up top was a was cruel joke you were playing on someone here. Looked like a photoshop. Looks like it is scaled perfectly. I would love to build one, but I'd rather work on the real thing. FRENCHBLUE72 05-21-2006, 10:10 AM Here we go its a pretty good kit and even comes with feathers decal kit with it... I do need to order one of the cowl induction hood for it and figure out how to fit the irocks on it.. Green Monster 05-21-2006, 08:43 PM Cool. Are those the only tires and wheels in the kit? FRENCHBLUE72 05-22-2006, 12:00 AM The wheels and tires I bought seperatley(sp) The kit has all kinds of options with it inclueding the decals.. It also has the spare blazer tanks like what bouncey has on his orange machine.. Very cool kit I will keep you guys posted on the build.. special-K 05-22-2006, 06:12 AM The CST moulding is molded on the body,no decals. You`ll have to paint then use photo-etch chrome,I think it`s called(or carefully paint silver). 72 CustomCamper 05-22-2006, 07:11 PM The CST moulding is molded on the body,no decals. You`ll have to paint then use photo-etch chrome,I think it`s called(or carefully paint silver). Whats the best way to strip old paint off model bodys??? Alot of guys in our model club uses Castrol Super Clean. You just have to be careful or it'll eat the plastic. The last time I stripped one I used nail polish remover, but you can only leave the body in that for an hour or two at a time or it will melt the plastic... 72 CustomCamper 06-08-2006, 11:55 PM what did you make the half cab from? The red one looks cherry. I like them all alot, nice Believe it or not the half cab is a cut down long bed pick up. The red one is the old Boondocker kit... IGOR 06-09-2006, 10:40 AM That Blazer model on 49s - that thing is sweet! Is that blue stripe going to stay there, or is it just masking tape? FRENCHBLUE72 06-09-2006, 07:08 PM The blue stripe is staying..... Its gonna be pretty much like brian mccormicks blazer from the early 80's.. 70gmcjimmy 06-09-2006, 07:46 PM Hey FrenchBlue- I mainly build 1/64 bods for slotcars(see avatar) but modeling is the same no matter the scale. To strip paint on these I put the bod in a ziplock bag, spray a bunch of easy off oven cleaner in it and seal it up overnight. The next day a toothbrush and some warm water should take it off without much effort, depending on how many coats of paint there is. I have never had it eat the plastic. Krylon paint can usually be removed with denatured alcohol. I know some guys that use brake fluid (ya know what that can do to the paint on yer truck!), but I havent tried that one so I dont know if it reacts bad to the plastic if it sets too long. Very cool job on the Blazer so far! Chuck-- I dig yer models, man---That camo ride looks like a Jimmy! I'd like to get my hands on one of them to do my Jimmy! I had an Open Road camper when I was a kid and it was one of my favorite models way back then. Sounds like you had to do some "kit bashin" to build yers, but that makes it better yet! Those models bring back a lot of good memories from the days I built 1/24s and 1/25s. Thanks for the pics all!
