View Full Version : Hello from Minnesota/Wisconsin
DigitalFusion 05-17-2006, 11:25 AM Hey all,
I am a 26 year old father of one, been married for 3 years and am from St. Croix Falls, WI. My grandfather just gave me a 67 or 68 C10. He doesnt remember which year it is, and I have yet to see it. The 67-72 has always been my favorite generation of Chevy truck. My plan is just to get the truck driveable and have some fun with it for a year or three, then do a frame off. I have other projects I am working on now, and dont need to get too distracted with this truck. Plus, I dont want to do the frame off until we have a house of our own. Right now my projects either happen in my business shop, or at a buddies house.

DigitalFusion 05-17-2006, 11:38 PM thanks all! I got some pix of the truck emailed to me tonight. Its sitting in the woods sank into the ground and pretty rusty. Its definately a 67, and there is a spare front clip, cab, and box from a 68 also there. Judging from the pix, there maybe a few salvagable parts between the two, but not much. All I really get is a frame with some spare parts.
panhandler62 05-18-2006, 07:35 AM Welcome .. :)
Given the starting point -- instead of a "frame off" you might just want to leap right into a "frame up" and build the truck from the inside out.
mrein3 05-18-2006, 07:41 AM Welcome! I could just about throw a rock and land it in St. Croix Falls from the end of my driveway.
wibilly 05-18-2006, 07:42 AM welcome from Minong, good luck with the project
DigitalFusion 05-18-2006, 10:29 AM Welcome! I could just about throw a rock and land it in St. Croix Falls from the end of my driveway.
hey, i know your truck! I have seen it a thousand times. I grew up in lindstrom, about 5 miles down Co Rd 14. Do you live right behind the old library in town there?
EDIT: Ill post a pic or two of just how bad it is when I get out to my shop. Im inside on the lappy right now and I have no way to compress the pix right now and they are too large to add as an attachment
DigitalFusion 05-18-2006, 01:12 PM Yeah, its pretty much a "frame up" instead of the frame off like panhandler said. Also, its a small window 67, which I dont like. Teh 68 front end is sunk into the ground pretty bad, so I doubt highly that its any good, and the roof is all dented in. Oh well, cant complain for free right? :D It gives me a foundation to start building from if nothing else. I am supposed to be getting more pix of the 67(blue) tonight. I asked for some shots of the doors, fenders, rockers etc.

mrein3 05-19-2006, 08:20 AM hey, i know your truck! I have seen it a thousand times. I grew up in lindstrom, about 5 miles down Co Rd 14. Do you live right behind the old library in town there?
I used to live by the big blue water tower. I moved 3 years ago and actually have a Center City address for now. However looking at the City's plans it looks like I'll be a Lindstrom resident again by 2015.
You are thinking of another truck like mine in town. There is a two wheel drive truck with the same paint as mine. The first day I saw it I was in my Escort and just about gave myself whiplash thinking somebody was driving away in my truck.
DigitalFusion 05-19-2006, 03:42 PM ahh. Yeah, the one I am thinking about is a 2wd and has a spare tire in the box right behind the driver. My buddy who lives over here also just got his hands on a 69 LWB. He is doing a cab off right now. We have one more buddy who is desperately searching for a 67-72. We'll have a small fleet of these things around here!

Ron 586 06-20-2006, 01:00 AM Welcome to the board from West Tennessee. Looks like you're wise to wait on these two until you can focus on them. I've started with a lot less and they turned out alright. Good luck.
N2TRUX 06-20-2006, 08:17 AM Welcome to the forum DigitalFusion....:)
panhandler62 06-20-2006, 10:45 AM If you don't want to use the small window cab you'll have no trouble unloading it here (just make sure you become a site supporter before trying to sell soething! lol) ...
Small window cabs are considered very desireable in the hobby.
71swb4x4 06-20-2006, 01:08 PM Welcome from South Dakota. Looks like you have a few good parts there, I am sure you will be able to get it going in no time.
I think the small window 67 cabs are neat, you sure don't see too many on them.
