In the back of my head, I've been contemplating getting a 'burb. I would like a 4x4 for the few days that I may have to drive in the snow, but normally never use it.

So can I lower a 4wd 'burb? I haven't looked at the front suspension. Is it leaf springs up front with a solid axle?

Yes, it is parrallel leaf with a solid front axle... I don't know how low you can take one with blocks/dearched leafs and still have it functional unless you used air ride assist on it...

Good point, I hadn't really thought of that.

I'm thinking of running 20" wheels, so I wouldn't be lowering it that much so the fender gap looks right, but definatly something to think about.

I don't have any input to the question, but I'd like to throw out an opinion:

If you don't need 4wd for off-road, get a 2wd burb and put a Power Lok in the rear pumpkin. For snow season, use winter tires, preferably studded if permitted. A 2wd with winter tires and a Power Lok handles near as well as a 4wd burb. The wheelbase and the roof/side glass/seat/passenger weight over the rear axle provides plenty of on-road stability and traction.

Also, 2wd burbs are cheaper, more plentiful, usually in better body shape, and, of course, can be easily lowered. After the last snow, throw back on the dubs.

C-notch the frame,oil pan and crank and you can lower it:lol:.I think you`re crazy.Sorry,you asked.Sounds like you`re a 2wd candidate.There are flaws in the plan.You could try to graft an IFS from a late-model 4wd,they can be lowered.So,that can be done for ching-ching.
