Is there anything else I can remove from startup? I just installed the spyware so I imagine it will stay. Thanks

qttask is unneeded.
nwiz.exe is unneeded.
dumpprep -k is unneeded. (this suggests you crashed at some point recently).

i am curious to know what the item is that is blank with a checkmark? knowing what the HKEY registry key is it's attached to may help?

Thanks for the help. Im dumb as a post as far as knowing what a HKEY registry key is or how to find it. I did a system search but came up dry.

I just went an checked my startup configuration and I had the same blank line. I unchecked it for startup and restarted my pc. When i got back on I opened the startup configuration again and instead of seeing it at the bottom of the page with no check where the other things you turn off go it was gone from the list. weird

HKEY is an address in the registry. Here's a description, if you can understand it. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256986/

Just don't modify anything in it without following instructions to the letter. It can really make life miserable if you screw it up.

Actually you need to talk to shifty,That regedit stuff is touchy anything that edits the registry is bad if it's not something you asked the computer to do thats how trojans and hijackers work. Not trying cry wolf but if you see that somewhere ask someone that knows if it's where it should be.

Cool...When I had the hijackers on my system I had a regedit exe file in a few places so I read up on it. I didn't completely understand it but guys like shifty know where it should and shouldn't appear.

shoot shucky darn.

ok, in that picture above there is something that has no description, but there is an "HKLM" line. The "HK" part is for "HKEY" in your registry - the reigistry is where Windows stores all your settings for the computer (in laymans terms).

I was curious what the HKLM line next to the two blank entries said (in full). sorry for the confusion!

you shouldn't dork around in the registry (regedit) as was already said - you can seriously screw stuff up without sound advice. i also do not recommend using "registry cleaners" - 99% of them are utter BS and will cause more problems than fix.
