View Full Version : Fast Orange: Rodstoration
muddpile 05-18-2006, 12:33 AM I've decided to compile all my posts here and leave this as my standard build thread, kind like N2Trux and N2Billet have done. Seems like a good idea, and keeps it all in one place.
Well, I've finally decided that the charger is not a suitable daily driver. When I fixed the corvette, it worked decent for a parts hauler, not good, just decent. Now I have two other projects, plus I work at a lumber yard, so a truck is really a necessity. A little over a year ago I found a 1972 chevy custom deluxe for sale. I always wanted a 72 longbox, and the fact that it was orange finished the deal. It came with a recently rebuilt 350 4bbl, a fresh rebuilt TH350 tranny with stage 2 Transgo shift kit, Fresh rear gears (Highway gearing, can't recall ratio) and a new radiator. When I looked at it I knew it was beaten, rusty and needed new wiring something fierce, but for the cheap price it was worth it. Here is what it looked like for the 11 months I drove it:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0411.jpg
Like the highlander seat? It was kind of cool in the truck, but it makes a nicer garage couch. Anyways, the truck was half made of duct tape and mono foam, the heater and wipers didn't work, it had Mono AM radio, the one tire went flat 3 times a week and the passenger window was made of plexiglass and siliconed in, but it worked for knocking around.
As it got colder out, it got more miserable to drive, so I decided it was time to park it and rebuild it. I had been buying bits and pieces for it since I got it (it came with a pile of parts as well, including a dent and rust free box) but I knew I had to go all out and do it right the first time. I tore it half apart and figured out what I needed, then ordered all new goodmark sheetmetal for it (Cab corners, rockers, floorpans, doors, fenders, etc.).
muddpile 05-18-2006, 12:34 AM After I ordered the parts, I planned everything out in my head. I wanted something cooler/cheaper than stock (The trim was all bent or missing, not to mention the plaid seatcover that is no longer reproduced as a single piece...). I went to the wrecker for some inspiration, and came home with a nice pair of 92 chevy buckets/console in a grey velvet (they have since been steam cleaned and look a lot better)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0420.jpg
I then ordered material to match that will work for custom door panels and headliner. I managed to track down a tilt column for it as well (Thanks HeavyD!), and a few other trick interior pieces that I will post at a later date.
Next thing that needed to be addressed was the look of the truck. In stock form it looks nice, stylish and vintage, but the price of the trim and everything would break me, so I will be going custom. It will still be orange and white, but with a bit of a different twist to it.
Now, onto the gory detail pics, the destruction and resurrection of my old pickup. I started tearing it apart a couple weeks ago, and found no real surprises. I knew it needed a lot of sheetmetal and a lot of wiring (the fuse box caught fire last month as well), so what you are about to see did not surprise me.

Well, thats it for now. The cab and box are unbolted, and the wiring harness is out as well. Should I remove the cab to fix the rust (cab supports, rockers, inner rockers, floor pans, cab corners) or leave it on the frame? I assume it would be better to remove it, but I'm not sure.
Also, how many circuits should I look for in an aftermarket wiring harness. My stock fuse box has 9 fuses, and the aftermarket one I'm looking at has 12, does that sound like a good number (CD deck, heater, electric choke, all lights, horn etc. No real big options.) Thanks and I look forward to sharing more progress, hopefully going the right direction when I put it all back together.
muddpile 05-18-2006, 12:35 AM Well, after a lot of grinding, bending, sanding, priming and painting I'm back with another update!! The box is off, and the cab is ready to come off, so I figured I might as well paint the frame, as I hope to never have to tear this truck apart again (or at least not for a long time).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0490.jpg
Once I got the box off, I noticed that there was indeed minor damage to the rear of the drivers side frame rail from when I got rearended. It was straighted with a hammer and a crescent wrench prior to painting.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0491.jpg
One rainy trip to the auto wrecker (the most miserable trip ever) the heater and wipers quit. On the drive home I noticed it got louder. One of the rusty old bottles had broken, and was just kind of hanging there. When I took the box off I hit it and broke it right off.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0493.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0494.jpg
Another area of concern was the shocks, I knew the truck was bouncy and needed new ones, but I never expected to find these. Anyone know when the last time they made Gabriel AjustOMatics was?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0492.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0501.jpg
muddpile 05-18-2006, 12:36 AM Once everything was out of the way, I noticed the extensive rust damage that my cab corners have suffered. I wondered why the patch panels were so big.....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0497.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0496.jpg
Armed with my trusty roller, brush, and spraycan I started on the frame. I wanted to give it that slightly textured look that new truck frames have, so I used a thin foam roller. Here it is in primer.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0503.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0500.jpg
Notice the modified exhaust in the last pic? It's going to be loud as hell for a while, but I figure the kind people on main street miss me owning a vehicle with straight pipes, and I'm not one to disappoint ;D . I will be getting performance mufflers put on, as bottles don't seem to last very well.
muddpile 05-18-2006, 12:37 AM And here it is with a fresh coat of flat black. It looks kinda blotchy in the pic, but it wasn't dry. I checked it today and it dried nice and even. The diff and will be painted by the end of this week hopefully. I'm in the process of scraping about 1" of grease off of it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0505.jpg
muddpile 05-18-2006, 12:38 AM I've almost got all the rust cut out of the drivers side floor, but won't bother taking pics of that until it's done and ready to weld. There isn't much floor left after the large amount of rust is gone, but I have patch panels to cover all of it.
I've got the differential primed between the springs and should have the rest of it including the drum backing plates done tomorrow.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0510.jpg
I also mounted my instrument cluster to see how it will look and fit, as the gauges aren't in the original places or the original sizes (and yes, I know some are really crooked, but I just slid them into the holes for fit). It fits really good, and I really like the look of it on the orange dash. I was thinking of painting the entire interior a semi-gloss grey to make it look more modern, but I'm leaning towards orange again.

muddpile 05-18-2006, 12:39 AM Well, its that time again when I post a few more pictures of my rodstoration (We all know how much us truck guys like pictures). I got the floorpans/inner rockers welded in on both sides, and patched up both kick panels. The floor feels way sturdier now, and it makes everything look more complete. The welds aren't ground yet, but will be shortly. For the record, this is the first time I've ever welded.

muddpile 05-18-2006, 12:41 AM Well, update time again. It's been a busy month, so I haven't been online a lot, but heres some 2 week old pics of where I'm at. I'll have more current ones soon.
Here's some stencils laid out on the goodmark fender pieces. I'm still in the planning stages of my paint job.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0545.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0547.jpg
muddpile 05-18-2006, 12:42 AM Here's the cab tipped over, ready to weld from the bottom as well, then grind, seam seal, put the cab supports in and undercoat.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0552.jpg
As you can see, it's a mess down there too.....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0553.jpg
And last but not least, here is a before and after comparison of my ramhorns. I like how they flow and look, but I hate the cast, so I polished them and ground off all the big cast blocks for a clean look.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0606.jpg
muddpile 05-18-2006, 12:44 AM Another update, again slightly outdated, but sorta recent. Here's more of the frame painted (Its the same color, just kinda wet in the picture and not dirty like the back part).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0686.jpg
Here's the seat anchor nuts and washers welded to the floor. They didn't want to stay there, so I welded them until they did.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0683.jpg
And here's the underside after a good cleaning and scraping. Lots of varsol goes onto this project. I also have the seam sealer on all the welds.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_0687.jpg
Next pictures will be of the cab supports (front ones are in, rear will be by the end of the weekend), followed by undercoating and engine work (starting next week, already partially de-greased).
mike nutt 05-18-2006, 05:47 AM looking good, keep up the good work.
Joe67 05-18-2006, 10:13 AM Great thread! Thanks for all of the pics, looks like you have done quite a bit so far! Keep it up, threads like this are an inspiration to many here
67Mach1 05-18-2006, 07:41 PM Nice job on the truck.
Keep the pics updated. They provide motivation for many of us our here.
Thanks,
Thomas
N2TRUX 05-19-2006, 12:37 AM Nice build thread! looks like some really good progress. Keep the pics and updates coming....:metal:
glock35ipsc 05-22-2006, 03:47 PM Excellent job! Your patch panels look great! What kind of seam sealer did you use: the caulking gun kind in a tube, or the brush-on kind?
muddpile 05-23-2006, 01:15 AM The seam sealer is the caulking gun kind. I can't remember what brand, it was in a blue and yellow tube. It's nice stuff to work with, but almost impossible to get off your hands.
MadDog 05-23-2006, 01:52 AM Very nice thread, I love the instrument cluster, looks very good.
glock35ipsc 05-23-2006, 08:12 AM So did you lay it down then spread it out with a puddy knife or your fingers, or just smear it around with the tube? I have both kinds (from Eastwood) and can decide on which to use.
muddpile 05-24-2006, 01:07 AM I layed it down then spread it with my finger. If you use that route, wear rubber gloves, this stuff is gooey!
glock35ipsc 05-24-2006, 08:16 AM Gotcha! Thanks for the tip!
muddpile 12-17-2006, 03:43 PM I'm baaaaaaack! As you may have guessed, the project got cancelled...........................Just kidding  I just took the summer off to have fun, cruise in my other vehicles and take in a few shows etc. So, without further interruption, here we go again!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1606.jpg
That is the old rusty front fender mount/front cab upright. Rusted, destroyed.........
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1643.jpg
But with a little TLC, a grinder and a mig welder, it looks a lot better (don't forget the Goodmark patch panel either.)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1639.jpg
Since it's the evver classic "Frame Off Resto" that we hear so much about, I figured I'd better get a shot of the bare rolling chassis, since I never plan on seeing it this way again.
muddpile 12-17-2006, 03:44 PM http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1651.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1652.jpg
Just a shot showing how close I'm getting. It's scary to think that someday I'll drive this thing again. The goodmark panels are top quality, and fit really well with minor tweaking. At first I thought they sucked, but after putting new pins and bushings in my door hinges, it went a lot better.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1621.jpg
And here's my home made balancer installer. It worked great! I know, I should have shortened the threaded rod, but isn't this a lot funnier?????
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1624.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1623.jpg
And my pride and joy, the only real finished part of the truck, the engine. It looks a lot better now than it did when I got the truck, and with all the new parts on/in it, it should perform better too!
muddpile 12-17-2006, 03:45 PM Another update. This is the most current stuff I have pics of, but I have a feeling this week is going to be a big one.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1659.jpg
Both kick panel vents were rusted out from filling with water, dirt, leaves, etc.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1661.jpg
Anything remotely close to the heater was as well, so more welding had to take place.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1662.jpg
The radiator support was BAD. The original battery tray had rusted off years ago, taking part of the rad support and the inner fender with it. I assume the odd leaky battery was the cause.... That ugly piece of tin in the top of the pic was the new battery tray. It was jagged from being cut with a torch, and had been stick welded to the inner fender and the rad support. I have since bought an OEM style one.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1663.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1664.jpg
And here's the finished product (minus the nuts that are now welded to it. It will be getting an optima this time, so hopefully there won't be any more problems like this). This week I hope to get the old fuel filler hole shaved, the antenna hole shaved, the doors lined up, and the cab corners and rockers on. Am I asking for a lot? Sure, but I work on it for 5-7 hours every night, and the whole weekend. It's doable ;)
poorboy 12-17-2006, 08:19 PM The truck has come along way. Keep up the good work.
Rollie396 12-17-2006, 08:30 PM jeez man you're catchin up to me in a big hurry!Lookin great so far.
CPNEJR 12-17-2006, 09:19 PM lots of progress getting done there. now come to my garage and do some work on mine so i can have it when i get my drivers license
pimperout 12-18-2006, 07:12 PM i like that a lot man good job
fnoblitt 12-24-2006, 05:10 PM :metal: i am going to be doing the same thing to my 70. what did you use to cut the floor with ? and what brans/amp welder did you use ? your doing a grewat job.:gi:
my67C10 12-24-2006, 05:49 PM where did you get the instrument cluster and glove box cover? i really like thoes!
QKENUF4U 12-24-2006, 06:00 PM hopefully ya threaded the nut onto the short end of your balancer installer  truck is looking good, im jealous
red71cheyenne 12-24-2006, 11:34 PM Progress is coming fast! You are about as far along as I am and I have been at it for 4 years now! Thanks for the pics and keep 'em coming. Jeff.
jay6891 12-25-2006, 07:38 AM To keep your fingers from getting all nasty from spreading seam sealer with them. Dip your finger in thinner before you start and keep dipping as you work and it will not stick. The trick is to keep your fingers wet with thinner. Body man showed me that.
mhdie 12-27-2006, 11:10 PM great work! keep us updated 88
jay-dawg 12-27-2006, 11:32 PM progress looks good!
Jay
muddpile 12-31-2006, 12:04 AM Thanks guys! Lots of new progress, but I need to charge my camera. Here's some answers to your questions:
Fnoblitt: I used a variety of things. Everything from a sawzall with a metal blade, to an angle grinder with a thin wheel to a dremel with a 1 1/2 cutoff wheel. Whatever fit the area the best. The Welder I use is a Hobart Handler 140 gas mig.
my67C10: I actually built the instrument cluster. I just took a stock 3 hole unit from the wrecker, removed the gauges, cut all the bracing off the back, sanded the front smooth and fibreglassed the holes shut. I then cut new gauge holes with a holesaw, textured it using SEM texture paint, airbrushed a pile of skulls on it and cleared it. Took a few nights, but I ended up with something functional, and totally unique. The glovebox door is a stocker that got the same treatment of texture and skulls.
Jay6891: Thanks for the tip. I'll be using more of it later next week, and I'll be sure to try that.
Yukon Jack 12-31-2006, 09:20 AM Lot of work happening on that one. Keep at it!
muddpile 12-31-2006, 01:58 PM More progress pictures. These aren't the most current, but within the next few days we should be right up to date. The cab corners are just about finished, and the rockers will be in shortly as well. The doors took a bit of tweaking, but they ended up fitting pretty well.
I have finally decided to get rid of my in-cab tank. I bought this patch panel off Ebay for about ten bucks, and it fit pretty perfect.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1669.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1672.jpg
Also, I decided to finally cut my dash for a modern head unit. With full autometer gauges, rear fuel tank, shaved stake pockets, modern seating, painless harness, billet everything etc, the original radio would look out of place (plus reching for the glove box is kind of a pain...)

msgross 12-31-2006, 04:36 PM the original radio would look out of place (plus reching for the glove box is kind of a pain...)
\
That's why all modern radios comes with a remote control..:whine: .I use mine in my car so I don't have to take my eyes off the road, sad to see a dash get cut but I like the gas tank filler. Think I should go that route vs. trying to cut my own? thanks...
muddpile 01-07-2007, 01:32 PM Remotes work fine until it comes time to change a CD. I figure I've cut the rest of the truck apart, whats a few more in the dash if it makes me happy right? As for the gas filler plate, I would NEVER attempt it when this product is available for 10 bucks. It fit excellent, was nice and thick and welded up great.
New update time as well! Both cab corners and both rockers are now in. I can actually look all over in my cab and not see daylight anymore! That may not sound like much, but it means the world to me,

Scary isn't it? That mangled, wrecked mess that I started with is now coming together, and rather quickly. I HIGHLY reccommend Goodmark/Tri-Plus panels if you are restoring one of these trucks. I'd never welded before I started this, and hardly worked on a vehicle, and look what I've done. Just imagine what an experienced person could do.
Here's my new favorite shot. I call this one "It's almost a truck again"
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/muddpile/IMG_1683.jpg
FarmTruk 01-07-2007, 06:29 PM Muddpile, I just saw this post, and read it from start to finish. You're work looks great. Man, whew, that's a lot of work. This is inspiration for me too. I'm keeping my eye on this one for new updates. Keep up the good work.
65-72 chevytoys 01-07-2007, 08:34 PM Way to go. Keep going I am going to watch this one if you can weld that well the first time then I think I should give it a try.
harmsy 01-07-2007, 10:24 PM Looking good , mine is also orange and white , just complete.......
turbochevy 01-07-2007, 10:43 PM nice work! I am looking forward to the end results. What are your plans for mounting the seats? I have the same seats, and I am holding on until I can come up with an answer on the installation of them. I plan on removing the in cab tank sooner or later too, do you think I can run the buckets with the tank for now?
YRU351 01-07-2007, 10:57 PM Where are you going to put a new gas tank? I'm interested in doing this also/
projectking 01-07-2007, 11:22 PM wow great job on the truck, makes me want to stay up all night and work on mine!!!
muddpile 01-08-2007, 12:06 AM Lots of comments and compliments, thanks guys. I never had any idea of how fast it can come together once everything lines up. Now, answers to some questions:
TurboChevy: The seat mounting was a pretty involved process, although it didn't have to be. I wanted the most leg and head room I could get, as I'm not that small of a guy (6'0, 230+). What I did was slid the sliders right to the back of the seat, like where they would be if you slid the seat all the way forward in the vehicle. I then set the seat sliders down behind that thick floor rail that the front of the stock bench mounts to and checked for fit. The seat backs just barely touched the back wall above the tank, and there was lots of head/leg room. I then marked where each mounting place was for both seats (8 total) and set the console in between to make sure it fit.
Once everything was marked out and to my liking, I measured to see how thick of bolts I could fit in the seat holes, then drilled a pilot hole and then the real hole (which was about 1/8" bigger than the bolt for easier threading). I then tipped the cab back to do the cab supports, and while under there, I welded washers with the biggest outside diameter I could find to the floor (making sure the nuts would still sit somewhat on the washer for structure). I then centered the nuts and welded them on as well. I welded them VERY well, so they would not come off, then covered my welding with seam sealer to keep rust and whatnot away. The setup seems very solid and I am confident it will hold up well.
The seats actually fit very well with the tank in the cab. Up until about a month ago I was going to keep the in cab tank, but decided to switch to an under-bed model to save some interior space.
YRU351: I plan on mounting a 72 Blazer tank under the bed where the spare tire would normally hang, and filling it through a marine style filler in the bed floor.
groundhog 01-08-2007, 12:39 AM its looking good just hope you have the energy to keep going .im kinda doing the same thing to my 71 but with out the cab removal ill post pics soon...keep it up and it'll come around keep the pics coming...jc
birdie 01-08-2007, 02:35 PM That is great work you are doing, your truck is going to look fantastic when you are done.
RShaips 02-09-2007, 11:58 AM Makes me feel better about the truck I am about to buy! Nice work, and thanks again for thr headers!
RShaips 02-09-2007, 11:59 AM I got the headers from Muddyole69 not you! Truck looks great so far!
oopstruck 02-09-2007, 12:11 PM totally cool. seeing things like this makes me wanna keep up the long process
2nd_wnd 02-09-2007, 12:18 PM Looking good man. I'm just starting mine but seeing how you did yours gives me inspiration and a game plan
muddpile 02-12-2007, 12:20 AM Thanks for the compliments guys. I'd update, but there isn't much to show, just loads and loads of sanding. i start bodywork this week, so look forward to some pics.
muddpile 02-19-2007, 11:52 PM I'm back with another update. Here's some of the most boring pictures you will ever look at. Seriously. The truck looks like something out of Frankensteins lab, but the good news is that's how it should look. We're just days away from body work, and guess what that means.......That's right paint. It never had much of that before, paint and metal were two of it's shortfalls.

Just finished doing the seam sealer and undercoat today. The seam sealer didn't smell very good, kinda like a potent caulking would smell, but the undercoat was RANK. Even with a respirator, the smell comes through slightly, and the taste with it. When I took the mask off to leave, the smell was aweful, even after airing the building out for 15 minutes.

I also finished the rad support. The battery tray and overflow are a far cry from what I had, not to mention the fact that this one's clean now.....

67chev"BIG-Bertha" 02-28-2007, 12:04 PM I've almost got all the rust cut out of the drivers side floor, but won't bother taking pics of that until it's done and ready to weld. There isn't much floor left after the large amount of rust is gone, but I have patch panels to cover all of it.
I've got the differential primed between the springs and should have the rest of it including the drum backing plates done tomorrow.

Where did you get that cluster and ash tray cover, etc.? And your doing a gr8 job keep up the good work man.:c2:
muddpile 02-28-2007, 12:30 PM Ash Tray Cover: Just an unbolted front piece of a stock ash tray door that I textured with SEM texture spray and airbrushed skulls on.
Glove box door: Totally stock, again textured with SEM and airbrushed.
Instrument cluster: A little more involved. I took a stock 3-hole dash bezel, and cut all the bracing out of the back, and the gauge rings as well. I sanded the gauge bezel lips and the "Washer" and "Light" rectangles off the front as well. I then fibreglassed all three holes shut, bodyworked it, and sanded it until perfectly smooth. Next step was the SEM texture spray, followed by the airbrushing and then everything got a couple coats of clear. I figured out where I wanted my autometer gauges, then drilled all the holes with a holesaw. It's not a really involved project, and I think it can be completed in less than a week, plus it gives a really unique look.
67chev"BIG-Bertha" 02-28-2007, 01:43 PM Wow. That sounds kinda hard. But it looks really great. I think maybe just a big outline of a bowtie would look cool. But keep up the great work. You inspire me to work on mine.
muddpile 02-28-2007, 11:29 PM Once it's smooth, any design is possible. Another update will be here on the weekend, as the bodywork is almost done, and anything I don't need on the firewall is getting shaved. I'm keeping the big ugly heater box setup, but I'm modifying it some for looks. Thanks for the compliments!
panelguy 03-01-2007, 07:41 AM looking good Kelly! You done yet????
muddpile 03-01-2007, 12:34 PM Just about  I hope to have it done by majestics, and with the hours I put in every night, the fact that most of the bodywork is done and all minor projects are complete, that should be fairly achieveable.
jlaird 03-01-2007, 05:05 PM newbie question here...what is the purpose of the seam sealer? Why not just primer? Are the seams not fully welded??
muddpile 03-02-2007, 04:41 PM The seams are fully welded, top and bottom. I just use the seam sealer as a precaution, you know, if there is a pinhole where the weld missed and moisture can get in and such. It may be overkill, but I'd rather overkill than underkill.
mhdie 05-24-2007, 01:10 PM any updates?
alschevy 05-24-2007, 02:39 PM nice truck great job
1967 chevy one ton wrecker truck
muddpile 05-24-2007, 08:14 PM It is going in for primer and paint next week. The bodywork, seam sealer, drip rails and everything are done. I'd post pictures, but bodywork is difficult to show progress on. It's been a long project, and I can't wait to get it on the road.
OLDIRON69 05-24-2007, 08:53 PM Great build thread, you have some skills with the ole airbrush!:metal:
Already Gone 06-22-2007, 03:22 PM Is your truck painted yet, we'd love to see some updated pics. Where are you in the province as I'd like to meet you sometime and we can check out each others trucks. Where did you buy the SEM Textured Paint ?
muddpile 06-26-2007, 08:16 PM I'm spraying the Epoxy either tonight or tomorrow night (more than likely tomorrow). It's been a slow process, as I've managed to break my vette and my daily driver and have to get them back on the road. I'll walk for a while if I have to just to get this truck on the road
I'm in a little town half way between Regina and Saskatoon, Nokomis. I think I saw your truck at Superrun a couple years back, but I can't remember. I assume there are only a handful of pink ones in the country, let alone in the city.
weasle 06-27-2007, 04:24 PM Did you stip your entire cab before painting?

Yes I had my truck at the Red Deer Super Run last year in 2006. Are you going to have your truck back together by the Watrouis Fun Run, at the end of July? You live so close to Watrous it would be great place to show it off. There is a good chance I'll be going to the Watrous Show so if you come to it whether you have your truck or not stop by and say hi !!
jgrh64 06-28-2007, 06:19 PM NICE WORK ! if you lived by me I would hire you to do work on mine, I can only hope to eventually do half as good as you. Any problems keeping everthing lined up - sagging or movement since you cut out so much ???
fourty1 06-28-2007, 07:52 PM Nice progress,
FYI,
Hope you recorded the casting #s off of each side ( remember Murphy's Law can bite at the most unsuspecting moment, say when your on your way to church,,,ummmm. )
I was lucky to stop @ a laundry- couple of coat hangers, & lucky me--3 blocks away was one of those ' Trailer Tool Sales- for vice grips ". Got me back home-75 miles sounding like a 1/2 mile modified @ 60 mph !!!.
At home, I jacked up the exhaust & wired & tightened close, added some exhaust glue? .
Quieter BUT there are a dozen if not more after-market ram-horn manifolds on the market= HARD TO COME By if using ram horns, headers are a different animal........
..............so QUICK write down those serial #'s & keep in a good safe place.
best wishes,..
fourty1
I love your gauge bezel and glove box, nice work!
