I have an 88 Chevy short wheel base truck (117) 2wd reg cab 1/2 ton. Can I install the bigger 34 gal tank? If so, which sending unit do I use?

I have thought about it with one of my older trucks, and I believe the reason I didn't was the tank is too long for the SWB. That is my pure and unexpert knowledge.

Guess I'll just look at a 34 gal real close...my 25 gal is starting to leak and the 25 & 34 tank are the same cost new. If the depth is the same...the sending unit should work.
