jugernot 02-27-2008, 11:45 PM jugernot, Very nice job on install the sound deading material, stuff can be a pain to put on over the trans tunnel, great work look awesome. One recommendation, if you still have any second skin left, i would recommend doing the area where your sub enclosure is going to go, that way you have full sound insulation and it will also help your system sound better in the end. If you already have why not, and also put some inside the sub enclosure after you build it.
That is what im doing when i do mine, easier to do it once then have to take it apart again.
Thanks. I was thinking that it would cut down on the vibration between the enclosure and the back wall. I was also holding off on putting it there just in case I screwed up making the enclosure.
Do you have any thoughts on your enclosure (pics). I have never made one and like wiring, I'm a little apprehensive. I'm not even sure what size speakers or amp I will be using. I had a link to a web site dedicated to fiberglass, but it is on my other computer that crashed.
pcorriveau951 02-28-2008, 02:30 AM Jugernot, well now your going done my alley, im addicted to car audio, so my system is going to be alittle more complex than most. but if you have any questions, regarding anything to do with the audio aspect ill be glad to help you in anyway. I have done in, i think a 71, all the same in that area, two 10's and a dual amplifier setup, turned out really great sounding, nothing special on the audio equipment. But in our trucks you dont need anything super powerful wattage wise to make them sound good.
The sound come alot form the quality of the enclosure, and the build material, like i sasid in previous post use sound deadening material inside the enclosure its self, spray in or sheet.
PM me if you want or need any help on advice or tips for the enclosure.
Phil

Thanks Phil, I will definetly be dropping you a few PMs. I plan on doing something like these.
jugernot 02-29-2008, 11:36 PM I just received a package from Putter's Custom Concepts and it looks great. He did an excellant job putting the dash essembly together with the Phantom Auto Meter Guages. He also did something a little extra that I will not be able to share until I get power to the dash. As I thought it looks great with the yellow.
There is a link to how the dash build started.

Putter 03-01-2008, 07:24 PM Until today, I did not even know this thread existed. There is some truely amazing detail, craftsmanship, and patience involved in this build. I am proud to say I had some input on it (tailgate straps were mentioned and the cluster).
I can not wait to see the finished product.
Keep the updates coming and I will keep hanging on every post!!!!
Rokcrln 03-02-2008, 01:28 AM Putter very nice job on the cluster. I like the look with the black removed from the rings.

jugernot 03-23-2008, 04:09 AM Well I have been a little intimidated by the wiring I have to do. I look at all the wires and thought, "Where are the meatballs and garlic bread." So today I read the instruction manual and decided to give it a try. I seperated the wires into their groups, labeled them and routed them to the areas they need to be. Know I just have pick up some electrical supplies at the GoodGuys show, wait for all my switches to arrive and I can get started. I also install my tail lights.
I really really want to hear the engine this summer....................
jlaird 03-23-2008, 05:47 AM if i missed it, i apologize, but what wiring harness did you go with?

Painless 18 circuit universal w/ GM column. Kevin tucked that fuse block into the no longer needed or used kick panel vent holes.
Rokcrln 03-23-2008, 07:27 AM Painless!
Looks great, can't wait to see it next weekend!

Well, I ordered some hedders from Sanderson and received them in the mail. I spoke to the salesperson at the recent goodguys show and he told me which ones to order, but when I put them on, the passenger side header hit the frame. So I gave them a call and they said I ordered the wrong ones. I'll be in San Francisco tomorrow, so I will run the hedders over to there shop and exchange them.
Other then that I have been trying to figure out the wiring issue. The Painless universal 18 curcuit harness does not have any of the teminal connectors. I have been trying to figure out which wire goes on which terminal on the ignition swith, light switch and etc.
I'm still trying to get the engine turned over by the end of summer. I will definatly post updates as I get thing completed.
Thanks.
jugernot 05-23-2008, 01:18 AM It’s been almost two months since my last update. I have been working on the dreaded painless wiring harness under the dash. I have picked at it a little at a time and other then the wiring the lights for the heater control panel and cigarette lighter and radio, it’s done.
I also installed the steering column, radiator and condenser. I installed the vintage air unit, vents and tubes.
I don’t have any power hooked up to the seats, so I could not move the seat back any further.
I think I will work on the rear wiring and then the front. I have to buy my AC compressor and alternator before I get close enough to turn the engine over.
A couple of pictures before I started and some after completion.
WOW this truck is coming together very NICELY!!! I have been watching the thread from the start and have been anxiuosly awaiting some updates!!
copywritten 05-23-2008, 09:57 PM Any special fabrication to get those seats in there?
jugernot 05-23-2008, 10:56 PM Any special fabrication to get those seats in there?
Nothing was done to the seats, just bracing on the underside of the cab floor. I would not recomend the seats for tall people.
I might install them, run some power and put them in the position I like.

Well I hope I dont have a problem. I just ordered some seats just like that from a 2005 Yukon Denali. Do they sit to close to the stearing wheel?

Without any power to adjust, I can say for sure, but in the position the seat are in now I would say yes.
If you go to page three of my build another member used the same seats. You could check with him.
randomhero472 05-24-2008, 08:16 AM Im a taller guy (6'3") and ended up selling my seats from an 06 truck, they just felt way to big in that cab, but they are damn comfy:)

Thats what I am talkin about. I am all about comfy! I was getting ready to order a new tilt column, but now I am gonna wait till I get those seats in to see if I need a shorter one.
jugernot 06-05-2008, 05:11 PM I'm taking a break from the wiring, since Kevin finished welding up my coverted blazer gas filler tube and adding a bit to my blazer tank. I painted, installed and connected all the fuel and vent tubes. It turned out really nice. I got the idea for the filler tube from Livrat another member and modified it a little.
jugernot 06-05-2008, 05:13 PM There are some more pics with the tubes attached

pcorriveau951 06-09-2008, 12:26 AM Jugernot, truck is looking great, i was just playing with my truck this weekend trying to plan out the wiring and thought about puting the fuse block in the kick panel vent, then saw you did it, how funny. but i have a few questions for you, how are you planning on routing the wires from the fuse panel to the engine, headlight section? in plain getting all wires to outside the cab? did you still use the painless wire disconnect the normally goes thru the firewall?
Do you happen to have a picture of the the fuse panel installed? if your willing to share if not i understand, i have a couple of secerts that i want to keep on my truck as well until its done.
Thanks,
Phil

I used an 18 curcuit universal non GM column ingition harness from painless. (pictured below). it does not have the firewall connector like the OEM style harness. its all one piece.
If you are going to put your harness into the vent, make sure that you have the turn signal flasher fuses install to check fitment ans accessiblity.
As for the wires the go into the engine compartment, Kevin put a hole through the kick panel. I do not have a picture of it but it is oposite the kick panel vent opening some where around the area shown by yellow in the picture below.
I have no problems sharing, in fact a couple of memebers have used our idea for the gas filler door.
I hope this helps you out.
jugernot 06-09-2008, 09:58 PM pcorriveau951,
Just another thought, you could probable also put the harness through this area, but of course on the drivers side.
pcorriveau951 06-09-2008, 10:41 PM thank you for sharing, im trying to decide which way i want to go, i hate the look of wires im trying to figure a way to get it all done with very minimal amounts of wires being seen anywhere in the truck, going to be alot of work but i think it will be worth it.
Any updates on this build guys?
jugernot 12-03-2008, 11:43 PM Sorry the only update I have is that I had a vistor today, who said my paint was to loud and gave me a ticket.....................
