I have a 1991 Burb with 5.7L Installing starter and need wiring directions to complete. Have four wires to connect to M, R, and S Have tried several ways and seem to have either a short or a wrong connect as the batt cable when hooking up will spark.:help:

It shouldn't spark when hooking up the battery cable. Are all the ring terminals the same size? You should only have one wire going to the S terminal...that is to energize the solenoid. I can't remember what all the other wires are for. Good Luck

Still having fits with this. I have a wire coming off of the Positive Post of the Battery (second to the Battery Cable itself) If I leave this unconnected then the starter will crank. However I also have no electricity to lights and even the fuel pump. It has a small ring connector so it will not connect to the Large Post on the Solenoid and if connected to the S terminal it causes a spark when connecting the Battery. Still stumped

FYI Main Battery cable goes to the Solenoid. Secondary one goes to the Generator. The Solenoid then has two cables connected to the M terminal and one small wire connected to the S terminal. The Suburban RUNS !!

Secondary one goes to the Generator.

You have a generator? :D

Congrats on getting it running...starters and wiring them drives me crazy! (past bad luck/experiences)
