On certain websites when I click on a link and a new page opens, the page is blank and it says "about blank" I also get a lot of "error on page" I thought it was something to do with Internet Explorer so I downloaded the latest Beta version and it does the same thing. Any idea what this could be? Thanks in advance.

sounds like you're infected with something (adware/spyware/etc).

i would need a hijackthis log to tell you if that's tyour case.

I can really only recommend two things:

Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com and do a full scan. It will detect spyware and viruses and all kinds of other stuff and let you know if either are the problem.

What you're experiencing sounds like the about:blank malware, but it could just be a Windows setting ... I'm not sure. A quick scan should give you an idea.

I scanned using housecall and it found a couple of things but no mention of the about:blank malware, and I also tried disabling Kerio and it still does it. Maybe, like you said, it's just a windows setting? Or do you think I should try Adware Away as mentioned in the other thread?

UPDATE: When this problem occurred I also had an error that said "Class does not support automation" Long story short, I found a website where somebody else had the same problem and one of the solutions was to type regsvr32 msscript.ocx [enter] regsvr32 dispex.dll [enter] regsvr32 vbscript.dll [enter] in the cmd prompt and it worked!!!! I have no idea what I did but it worked.

Thanks for the post for an update.

msscript.ocx and vbscript.dll are two system files which allow you to, well, loads code scripts in Windows (VBscript and possibly Javascript). dispex.dll is is a system module that lets you do VBScripts also.

I won't BS you and say I know why it affected your computer the way it did or how those things got unloaded...but that's what happened. I'm really glad you posted the info here for me and others to see. Never know who might benefit from it in the future.
