It was a bad Monday for me. Less than 1 block from my home I was waiting for traffic to clear so I could turn left onto the street going to my house when I head a loud crash. I looked into my side mirror and saw this white van jump about 3 feet into the air sideways and head for my rearend. I hit the gas to try and outrun it, I made it about 3 feet when it hit me and pushed my truck about 5 more feet down the road. I pulled off about 20 feet away and jump out to check on the others. I was pretty shocked to see the school bus off the bank and the gold van on the northbound lane. Guess I was parked to far away for the news chopper to realize my truck was a part of the wreck.

All the other wittnesses said the bus never slowed down. That poor guy in the white chevy van was hit at full speed by the bus in the rear, flew sideways, bounced off me with the passenger side and into the gold van with his frontend. He was up & walking around but they carried him off to be checked also. The bus driver was bleeding from the head and the lady in the gold import van had a broken arm, pelvic pain & glass in her eyes. The single kid riding the bus was ok. I suppose the big guy upsatirs was looking out for him.

After my shock wore off my neck was hurting and they carted me off to Madgian Army Hospital where I spent about 8 hours cat scans/x-rays & getting checked out. I'll have to wear a neck brace for a month or two but I'm alive. $233 bucks to get my truck out of impound today since there was no one to move it while I was in the hospital.

Looks like I'll have to get that flatbed made up a little sooner than I thought. I just hope the cab is not sprung around the drivers door. If I have to part it the running gear will go under my 67 K20. I was wearing my shoulder belt otherwise I would be missing a bunch of teeth. I think I'll make it a priority to put shoulder belts into the 67 as soon as I'm able.

Elk Plain is a little wide spot in the road where Hiway 7 changes into Pacific Ave at the very south end of Spanaway. We have Spanaway mailing addresses and Graham Ph numbers.

I spent several hours looking at the celing and napping on the gurney, retired NCO's don't have high priority. Good thing I was not bleeding out LOL... The worst part is I have to go back for a follow up.
