I have been having problems with my DSL not running all the time.Using the kids computer today and all was well, but mine still stopped, and I had to restart firefox to bring it back.
I started shutting things off till I found it was AVG making it do this.Anyone have a fix,I was running the latest version of everything,I just reformatted last week.I can't run without an AV,but I can't have the DSL shutting down all the time.
Any better AV than AVG you guys are using that's free?

There are a couple of other free antivirus clients out there...they're listed in the spyware/virus/firewall/etc. thread stuck to the top of this forum.

Outpost is a good low-resource antivirus. Avast is a little more resource intensive.

I used to use AVG, but have switched to Avast, I think i like it better. I never had that problem with AVG, but the reviews said Avast was better. Good Luck.

My only beef with Avast is that it tends to be a little more taxxing on your system if you install all of the modules with it. If you go with a minimal install, it's great. AVG - for what it is - is great, not a resource hog and all-around wonderful IMHO. But Avast honestly offers just a smidge better protection from things on both the antivirus side and with their other modules.
