Shock_Me 06-21-2006, 06:18 AM Lookin' good!! Nice and straight! Pete Swbman 06-21-2006, 09:40 AM From where I sit it looks pretty good for a backyard job, and you did it in black one the harder color to do.Way to Go.... JMac11 06-21-2006, 10:13 AM Looks as good if not better than mine...... My Dad and Uncle painted an old International Semi in the yard once, that truck won tons of truck shows. People swore my Uncle was a ;iar when he told the truth about it. Things just worked perfect on it. Baketown Scotty 06-21-2006, 11:12 AM Looks good! Wish mine came out that nice. glock35ipsc 06-21-2006, 11:22 AM Looks pretty darn good here! What paint/clear did you use, and what gun did you shoot it with? Did you have any kind of an enclosure, or just out in the open? bouncytruck 06-21-2006, 11:56 AM Looks nice. Black is the hardest to paint! It shows every imperfection. White is the easiest as it hides a lot. This is why you see a lot of lame resto jobs done in white. It looks like you've got a little orange peal, but not too bad. You could consider doing a wet sand to smooth it. I'm sure there are others that know more about paint than me and will let you know if that is possible. shaneschevys 06-21-2006, 12:13 PM looks good. Big J 06-21-2006, 01:25 PM Don't sell yourself short, that is one good lookin' blazer.:metal: RunTMCfan 06-21-2006, 02:10 PM I'm going to try the Aerosol can with the paint loading container. This will be for touch ups and such. In a year or two I will probably redo my Blazer and turn my garage into a paint booth and buy a gun. I'm curious to know what technique you used. Rustoleum makes a wet sandable primer. Blizz 06-21-2006, 02:53 PM that looks really good. that's what i wanna do with mine since i'll be taking it wheeling, to the beach, camping etc etc. i don't want to pay thousands upon thousands to get it all scratched up. i'm interested in your answers to the above questions. did you do it outside? use a booth? what did you use? what technique? anything that would help someone who has never done it before. bouncytruck 06-21-2006, 02:58 PM I may have asked this before, but what size are your tires? I like the stance. I'm gonna need new tires before winter and I'm thinking about slightly wider/bigger, but I don't want huge meats. jsbgump 06-21-2006, 03:05 PM Nice and smooth good job EZ4U2C 06-21-2006, 03:45 PM ya got going on................. ian villeza 06-21-2006, 05:52 PM Thanks guys for the kind words, Paint job is descent at 15 feet but far from show quality. Yes I do have many flaws in paint like dust and bugs and body work that was missed. Overall very happy with paint job. materials where around $125.00. I used omni brand single stage acrylic enamel, I did not shoot any clear as I am happy with my daily driver results. I did hang some plastic for an attempted enclosure but it was very crude. I have a divilibiss gun that was given to me years ago. As for advice to anyone, I say just go for it. Read the directions on the paint you purchase and take your time. Prep makes all the difference and the only real threats are dust, Bugs, Water and runs. Bouncy my tire size is 32x10.5 stock suspension. FRENCHBLUE72 06-21-2006, 07:52 PM Looks damn good congrats.. Medicanman71 06-22-2006, 12:41 AM Whoa that looks alot better then before IMO. Not that your blazer wasnt nice before! Please post more BEFORE and after shots!! ian villeza 06-22-2006, 02:35 AM Whoa that looks alot better then before IMO. Not that your blazer wasnt nice before! Please post more BEFORE and after shots!! I agree Medicanman, I'm thinking about Rhino lining the interior and would love to find a hard top. Medicanman71 06-22-2006, 02:38 AM Sweet! Now you just need some tire gloss  Jason915 06-22-2006, 08:58 AM Nice paint that is what I am going to do. It will be my first paint job. My Grandpa, Dad, and Uncle can paint real good so I am hoping it's in my blood lol. I watched them all paint outside and come out with great results. Your Blazer looks great now! Chevyman63 06-22-2006, 10:27 AM Looks great!! I've done the same thing with the "plastic mobile paint booth", but never for something of that size. Once again, great job. Jason915 06-22-2006, 12:07 PM I may have asked this before, but what size are your tires? I like the stance. Hey bouncy you should run 33X10.5's BFG makes them in Mudders and A/T's but I think that they are discontinuing the A/T's in that size. I am thinking of getting the mudders. Medicanman71 06-22-2006, 05:20 PM really, they're thinking about discontinuing 33/10.5 A/Ts? why?!?! edit: good thing i DIDNt get those, i like them but if this is so, it would really make finding a matching spare be a PITA Aarons72s 06-22-2006, 06:22 PM Great job! Looks better than most "proffesional" paint jobs I have seen around okc. You must be one of the guys if you want it done right do it yourself. bouncytruck 06-22-2006, 07:07 PM Do you see many/any other first gens on the island? ian villeza 06-22-2006, 10:02 PM Do you see many/any other first gens on the island? We have a large population of military here on the island and most Blazers owners I've seen are military. I purchased my 72 Blazer from a Navy sailor who's wife was driving it and became pregnant, She finally decided a New car was better for her lifestyle. I've seen four since I've owned my blazer and 2 of the four appeared restored. Jason915 06-23-2006, 10:52 AM Time to change your avatar now. |
