What kind of hinges do you use on the doors?

I am not sure if the handles will stay or go, I think it would be cool to leave them on and make it where the button on the handle actuates the door popper. The hinges are from autoloc, I was pleased with how they work (the instructions were pathetic).

Put the handel on the front of the door. Did you tack the doors in place and then do the hinges?

I am actually thinking about leaving the handle on the rear of the door... something different.
As for the hinges, I had the door off while I placed them in the cab. I had to make a mock door edge that I then tacked to the hinge in order to get the placement just right. I then tacked the door in place where I wanted it and mounted the hinges to the door. Seemed to work out well enough.

Yeah that's an effy back there. Seems like I can't please everyone with it...(then again I wouldn't want to!) Ford guys hate it because it has an LS1 and C4 at all corners, Chevy guys wonder why I would "waste time and money on a Ford"... fortunately there's others like me who think if something has a twin turboed LS1, custom tube chassis with all independent suspension, air ride, big rollers, sits just right at ride-height and lays on the ground when deflated... it doesn't matter who originally manufactured it!!! (unless of course it's a dodge).:)

Those are just some shop rollers (keeps me from ruining the "good stuff") The wheels are 17 inch ultra's... don't know if they make them anymore. I do know they were pretty cheap.

I'm in your camp on every point. And I dig the 50's effies (shhhhh don't tell anyone;) ). I wouldn't hesitate to cross breed one either.

True "car guys" can appreciate all that is cool, regardless of brand.

Myself, my dad, and one more full-time guy (a 19 year old prodigy). Sometimes it feels like a three ring circus! I have had a few more at times, but I am extremely picky and ended up re-doing things and hence wasting time and money.

Thanks dwcsr! I would like to see it get chopped 1.5"-2". I don't know if the customer wants to or not... I am hoping that when it's all put together and in a solid primer he will see that it needs to lose a little height. If we chop it, I will definitely post pics.

and honest, i didnt copy off you on the rounded corners of that 55 - but my doors are done just like that - but i think the 4 headlights and the chop top should set it apart ;oP

Been a while since we made any headway on this one... had to knock the dust off it. The owner will be moving out of state so we will be finishing up all the fab, sheetmetal, and suspension so he can haul it away!

Just awesome work. That's all I can say.

My Dad has a '55 that I want to section 3.5" and chop 1.5". I want to lower the floor in it too so it doesnt have such a huge step...
