Can the oil pan be removed from the engine while it is in the truck? Without removing anything else? (on my old toyota you had to remove the front sub frame. it was easier to lift up the engine.)
If not can a new gasket be slid into place after dropping the pan a bit? Mine is leaking from the front and rear. It does not appear to be main or rear seals. The flex plate and balancer do not have oil on the backs.
Truck is a 96 1500 suburban with a 5.7 vortec.

if its a 4x4 you can drop the diff in about 30 min. and have clear access to it, if its 2wd i'm not sure, I haven't tried yet.
