I have a 91 GMC 5.7L: That has tilt steering and its lose I have removed the steering wheel now I am looking at a metal plate or sprocket. My question is how do you remove this. Does this need a gear puller to remove it.

The “Lock Ring” holds it on. It has a spring behind it. Notice the tool being used to compress the spring so the lock ring can be removed.

Looks like on this site he did the quick fix and did not take it apart far enough to tighten all four fasteners.

Thanks Chevy Tech The Links Were Helpfull Once I Got All The Wright Tooles Of Course It Made The Job Easy The Only Thing I Got To Do Now Is Go Back And Realign The Dimer Switch Sounds Like Fun. But I Would Rather Do That Then Pay To Have It Done.
