Needing some info on replacing the fuel lines on my '91 4WD Suburban, 350 TBI with 4 spd auto trans. Wife came home today from work and as she was backing into the garage I could smell a fuel odor. Crawling under the 'Burb I found that two bee-nut connected braided fuel lines had chafed thru the braiding where they had been rubbing against a tranny brace. They lead from the passenger side frame at the fuel filter up along the right side of the block to the back of the TBI unit. Will call my wife's cousin in the morning, hopefully they are in stock, (he works at a GM dealership, kinda handy at times.)

Any one care to give some heads up info on changing these two lines? Any precautions or troublesome areas, never ventured into these lines before. Pretty staight forward, just and remove and replace situation? After the fix I plan on wrapping some rubber hose and a couple zip ties to heal this problem in the future. Also will replace the fuel filter which I know is up the line from the problem but it's about time to replace it anyway.

Any help or info would be much appreciated.

I had to change my fuel pressure regulator and they just unscrew w/ a wrench up there and they unscrew at the fuel filter, so I don't think it will be too tough. Good luck.

aggiedave98, Thanks for the reply on the fuel lines. Got them changed but was un-impressed with the method my gear head son and I used. I purchased GM re-placement lines from a dealer and after getting home with them found one to be nearly an 1-1/4" longer than the original. Had to do some fancy hand forming to get around the distributer and other assorted "clutter". Seems as if GM replacement lines made in Mexico don't quite measure up to original standards. Not very surprising when you think about it. :(

I probably need to change mine some time as preventative maintenance so appreciate the info from you.

anytime you buy pre-bent lines, they still require a little tweaking :D

Have you checked out www.inlinetube.com ? :D
