Hey all.

I am a newb to trucks and am currently searching for my first C-10 project. I have spent my short-life (28) playing with air-cooled VWs. I have had a bunch of Bugs and a Ghia. 2 years ago, I branched out into the more 'advanced' vehicles (lets face it, a VW is just a big go-kart:) ) and started a pro-touring restoration on a 1979 Trans Am. I have a long way to go as I like taking my time and doing it right the first time...ie, I am poor (read -married). There are a few crappy pics of my car in the link on my signature. Believe-it-or not, I am a professional web developer. What can I say? I really don't care much for computers anymore. When you spend all day on them, just the basics do for me when I am home...probably why I like old cars so much. They don't have all that crap on them that you pay a fortune for these days.

Anywhoo...I went camping over the July 4th weekend and realized my 01 Grand Cherokee blows chunks at towing even a pop-up. I started looking at brand new trucks, but thought something with some nastalgia would be much more fun. I am now looking for a real cheap 67-70 project C-10 to begin an overhaul on.

This looks like a real nice site and I look forward to gathering all kinds of fun info!

Welcome to the board. Keep an eye on the Trucks for Sale board and the Ebay finds board (on the Gen. Discussion page) and you should be able to find a good deal.:D

Thanks! It is going to be a pro-touring car. Most Pontiac enthusiasts dont care for me too much. It was a numbers matching 400/4 speed (only 2500 made in 79). I parted out what I didnt want and worked from there. The reason I did that was because I am not much into the numbers matching thing and like to customize my cars to my taste. I also had too much in the car and there was no way I could recoup my money. It was cheaper this way.

I will be putting it together with:

13 inch Baer disks all around
18 inch rims (probably Budniks, but not sure yet)
502 BB if I go Cheby. I might stick with Pontiac power.
5 speed Tremec
Recarro racing seats.
Mixture of Hotchkis and DSE suspension components.
Full cage.

I plan on taking this car to track days quite a lot as well as daily driving it. I probably have some stuff I am forgetting, but this is the basic premise.

Right now the color of choice is Viper red with Black Powdercoated rims, but that too might change :) I just tore the car down after driving it around. I have some body work to tackle before I can go any further. I will update as I go if anyone is interested, but prepare for a LONG time ;)

I know it as well.....was at Big Walnut for a reserve football game last year!!!!

Isn't that also the home of the "Right Stuff" reproduction brake line company?

Take care,

Well isnt that ironic. I just found out about this yesterday when I drove by. The town has been growing like crazy lately and we have so much new stuff now.
