I have a 1975 Suburban I am restroing and want to know if the tailgates are the same from 1973-91 or are they different and if so when did they change. Mine is rotted and I have found a couple of rust free ones but want to make sure I know what I am buying before I shell out the money.Thanks in advance for your help.

My Dad replaced the tailgate on his 84 with an earlier tailgate and it was a little different. The pieces it hinges too from the bottom are a different size so he had to get those pieces off the same style truck at the junk yard. I think the rubber bushings go on different too. He made it work just fine but wasn't a direct interchange. I also don't have the years they are different for you.

I had Problems with my tail gate to. go to lmctruck.com look at there catalouge itll tell you what years work

I already found out by doing some research. All tailgate are physically the same. It it basically trim and emblems that are different and maybe some internal pieces but all years are supposed to be interchangeable.
