i put a new battery in around thanksgiving, when my truck was being stored during the cold weather. started driving it when it got nice. then a week or so ago it wouldnt start. got a jump and it started fine. drove on the freeway for 40 minutes, stoped to get gas, then it wouldnt start without a jump again. got a new alternator in yesterday, and now it wont start with my jumper box. the box was fulyl charged, and after trying to start it about 5 times the box is dead.

what are the chances that its just a weak jumper box and not say, a started problem? when it was turning over it was doing it real slow, just like it did when my started went out before.

Check your connections at the battery and starter and neg cable where it bolts to the cylinder head. Sounds like a poor connection.

if you don't have a voltage tester, then go to autozone, they'll test it for free in hopes that you'll buy there junk.

i checked, all the connections are good

if it would start i would  im gonna see if i can borrow some jumper cables and try and jump it with my car. ill also try and get my hands on a voltage tester and test the battery

on a side note, its a 1 wire alternator (everything is hooked up properly, so thats not the problem) how do you test the output on a 1 wire alternator?

I moved this thread, hoping you can get more responses, and keep everything neat and tidy. Electrical forum is a better forum for this subject.

Your battery will need to be fully charged in order to get an accurate reading of the charging system. You need to get your hands on a digital voltmeter. Attach meter to neg and pos battery posts, if the battery is fully charged it will read at least 12.5 volts, if not charge battery first. Once you have a fully charged battery start the vehicle take a reading again, with no accessaries on, at an idle you want to see 13.8 to 14.5 volts. I like to see it closer to 14.5. Now turn on all accessaries and take another reading, it should not drop under 13 volts. If your battery is healthy and you get readings below those numbers chances are that one wire alt has problems.

i didnt even know there was an electrical forum. i guess i dont pay attention.

i think im gonna take the battery to a friends shop and see if he can put it on the charger overnight, get the truck started then test it with a meter. thanks guys.
