I have this POS that constantly drops signals and kicks my daughter's PC offline and now it's doing it to my work laptop. I looked for a firmware update--not happening. Anyone recommend me a GOOD alternative? I like the all in one idea but am willing to go with a modem & router.
Thanks

If you act today, after rebate, you can get this kickass Linksys unit for $0.00!!

Buy.com is a reputable seller.
Now, with that aside, please read on:
Is the unit less than 2 years old? If so, I would contact Linksys support and talk to them about it - they might send a new unit out. Their support is incredibly helpful, and if you don't like sitting on the phone, they have an online chat support feature.
The big thing to decide is this: Is it actively dropping your wireless connection, or is the internet connection dropping? These two items can look like the same thing. Just want to make sure it's not your cable connection flaking out on you.
I personally use the Linksys WRT54G at home with the Motorola Surfboard 5100 cable modem and I love it, but it's not as streamlined or as user-friendly as the all-in-one units. There are newer, better wireless routers from Linksys also ... the WRT54G is solid...but a little dated.

My main unit is connected via cable and I have no issues so it's definitely in the WCG200--I have seen on some forums where other folks are having the same issues. I think I still have my old WRT54G in storage--thought I might need a newr one--guess I'll bust it out and pick up a modem too.

Motorola 5100 Surfboard is an excellent solution for a modem. It is DOCSIS 2.0 compliant, and I don't know of a cable provider who won't let you use it.
You may need to call your cable provider and give them your new MAC address from the modem to get up and running. They can help you with all of that.
