I got a message that says I am running low on HD space. I went to delete stuff that is no longer needed & found 3 i pod updater files.
1)2006-1-10=51.39mb
2)2006-3-23=101.00mb
3)2006-6-28=168.00mb
All three say version 4.7.0
It looks like I have 3 versions of the same program.I assume I can delete 2 but which ones? When I click it here's where I end up.http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
Do I need any of these?

I am no expert, but you "should" be able to delete the older files. What I have figured out is that when Itunes has an update it does not "overlay" or intergrate in to the old version, it just downloads the complete new version. It sets the new version to defualt and runs off of it.

Also, can you just remove the iPod updater using Add/Remove programs in the start menu?
A quick way to free up a nice chunk of space is to dump all of your temporary files and temporary internet files.
Search this forum for the word "CCleaner" (yes, that is two C's!!). follow the directions closely and it will help you clean up a lot of mess.

Wow! That's a gigabyte of crap!
Just be really careful to always follow the directions in that post! If you do not configure it properly to delete things, you will delete something you'll regret :D

It is possible it would help. That's kind of a loaded question. System REstore saves system files (*.ini, *.dll, *.exe, etc.) and some other files as well. It all depends on what we're talking about. I mean, I have seen it nuke some settings in Internet Explorer, causing people to not be able to load a web-based application before and I could never figure out what the heck caused it. I think in the process of cleaning out Internet Explorer using CCleaner, it wiped out all the ActiveX controls, or some other downloaded program file? I really am not 100%, I didn't get to see the computer in front of my face :(
All I'm saying is - be sure to check out BOTH tabs of options to clean in CCleaner....Uncheck EVERY option in both tabs, then selectively choose items for removal when you know exactly what they are and exactly what they do and you should be safe.
As with anything, use at your own risk and proceed with caution. Think about what something does before checking it off, or consult the help manual. 5 minutes of reading the help manual with any software can save you a week of pain and reconfiguration!
