Anyone have any knowledge of McAfee Security Center. I have been running it on my Dell for years now and always keep it updated and my subscription current.

Recently when the auto updater trys to runs it starts the process but never gets past 0% downloaded. I tried the McAfee FAQ and it sends me here.Link (http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/faq.asp?frames=1&docid=396586&CategoryId=243&chat=&s=1)

The problem with following those directions is when I Control+ALT+Delete and open the task manager I can not locate MGHTML.EXE or MCAPPINS.EXE on the list.

The McAfee chat line was a lesson in frustration too. The lag time between tech responses was 1-2 minutes......:(

Just tossing this out there, but can you ask the McAfee chat line people if it's possible to "detect and repair", "repair install" or otherwise use some tool to help you reinstall the McAfee security center software?

It sounds like, at some point, maybe some of the software got "borked" somewhere and is not loading all required components.

I forgot that part. They do have a "Virtual Technician" utility tool that you can download, which I did. I ran a system test and it came up with an error code saying it could not fix the problem....:(

I thoroughly enjoy Trend Micro's products and think PC-Cillin is a great title.

N2, do you have the original install disc? Could you try to install it over itself, it might offer a "repair" option of some sort. This is typically what I do when software goes bad.

I would uninstall and reinstall. Dont waste your time with a repair (IMO).
If you dont have the disc you can download the installer from their website.
You just need your info to prove you are paid up.
I dont think you will have to upgrade to a newer version, but you might.
