I replaced my 4 speed manual transmission with a 700R4 automatic. There was a light green wire and a dark green wire that went to the top of the 4 speed. I installed a Lokar shifter for the 700R4. Do the two green wires connect to the shifter?

back up lights.
if your shifter has a back up light switch, then wire it to it. It doesn't matter which terminal hooks to which wire... either way will do.
If there is no switch, and you don't feel like adding one, you can always hook up a toggle switch on the dash... although, from personal experiances, I recomend one with an LED in the tip. You'll feel like an idiot when a cop pulls you over about your b/u lights being on and you say "Oh sh!t, I have them hooked to a toggle and I was too retarded to turn them off"... or something like that. ;)

the switch pictured on the shifter is the neutral safty switch/ locar mounts the backup lights switch lower near the shift linkage rod and you need an additional kit from them to mount it

Thanks Longhorn and Cdowns.

Culookn-bought it from a guy in Fresno that runs a transmission shop, built for 4WD. No idea what vehicle it came from. Not real sure what he did to beef it up. I told him what it was going in and he said this is what I was looking for. I like the idea of the low low gear and the overdrive for traveling. Not quite on the road yet, but hopefully by the end of summer (I hope).

What do I do with the neutral safety switch?

Well, IMO, if you think you'll park it in drive or reverse, then you need the neutral safety switch. You'll want to extend the purple wire that goes to the starter, and run it to that switch on your shifter. Sonce your truck was a stick shift, there are no provisions for it currently.
Personally, I say make sure you put it in park, and screw adding the wires.

That's it, the wires are screwed. Thanks for the help.

Did you have to push in the clutch to start the engine. If so then there is a starter safety switch mounted on the clutch pedal and you could just extend the wires from it to the locar shifter wiring connector. If not then you would have to wire it like Long horn suggested.

i'd go thru the effort to wire the swutch in ,better to be safe than sorry, and you might also need it for your states safety inspection as i here it they are quite anal about those things in CA

CA doesn't have a safety inspection, just smog check.
The manual trucks had no clutch safety switch.
Per NHRA, he'll be totally legal too, sine his truck did not come with one from the factory.

I totally agree!!!!!. It only takes one time to forget and run over yourself or a buddy or do minor damage to the truck or garage or another vehicle. Why take the chance?
Andy as is the way with a lot of the posters, they fail to mention what year truck they have or what engine/tranny/carb/etc. The Haynes manual I have shows the clutch interlock in the starting charging, wiring diagram from 1977 on,thus the reason for my reply.

good point... 67 - 72 had no clutch safety switch.

You are right that safety is important.
But this os one of the safety items, that IMO is kinda stupid. If you leave an auto in gear, and shut it off, it'll roll if you are on the slightest of hills. Now I am only 32, but I have been screwing around with cars since i was 15, and profesionally since I was 18, and I have yet, to park one in gear, or try to start one in gear. And yes, I have done some REAL stupid things when working on them... but this has NEVER happened to me.

It's like the 06 cars in canada (at least the caravan... it may just be a dodge thing, but I suspect it is all new cars) when the doors open, the 4 way flashers come on.

Yeah, seems kinda stupid.
