Last month I managed to prime the cab and all front end sheet metal. Before I dropped the cab back on the frame, I sprayed SS urethane on the firewall. The exterior paint will be the same color as the firewall, but in BC/CC. Color is, well.....red metallic. Didn't have a specific example of what I wanted, I just picked out a few sample chips (from the 500+ in red).

BTW: BASF Glasurit Primer, $225/gal !@#$#@
BASF Limco (the economy mix) SS, $150/gal
Go Figure!

Hey dude, you should ditch the newspaper and buy real masking paper. It really would suck if you had paint bleed thru to areas you didnt want colored....... know what I mean? 3M makes it, its like a greenish color.

Yup, I use that stuff when I'm at my adult night school auto body class. But I gotta say I've never had a problem with good ole newspaper.

In the pic, (there's no glass under there), I just wanted to keep some SS overspray out of the inside of the primed cab. I'm wet sanding the inside cab this weekend, might spray too.

I _will_ be using the green stuff to cover the finished firewall, though.

Thanks,

LOOKS GREAT!! Nice gun too.

P.S. Ditto the paper, only don't buy green, it too can bleed. For a few bucks more, get some 5 star, or some generic coated white paper. I like to use it while color sanding and buffing, to keep the dreaded compound residue from having a hay day in my jambs, or whatnot. The white will hold up, and not come apart as easily when wet.

P.S. Not stepping on your toes cali. Great suggestion on the paper. I too used to use green. Had a couple bad experiences
though. Forced a couple of redoes when I would clear coat more than two coats, the #(&(#$!! clear would bleed and I would have a lovely piece of green paper in my great paint.

That hasnt happened to me yet...... but now I know thats a possibility. I like picking stuff up like that from people who do this stuff all the time...... because I woulda never realized that until I was the one bitching about that problem a couple years down the road.
