Just paid my dues finally, busy building my Jimmy is my excuse.
I joined pretty much for your parts board and good conversation going on, everyone seems friendly.
My present project is '72 GMC Jimmy, I paid $700 for it and it had a lot of rust. My son and I just finished up drivers side with about 10 patch panels and floorboard. Nice to have a solid floor again!
The whole thing has been apart except cowl, bedsides and suspension. PO did a 4" lift.
Spent most of my money so far on reproduction pieces to make it look original. Seats are the only thing not orig.
The part that is different with this project is that I put a wood bed in it. I guess I will get hammered from the purist but I like it.
So far it is a 350/350 NP205 373s w/31s Factory Ralleye Wheels.
Engine has been degreasd since PO had Valve Covers on upside down and pumping gas into engine crankcase, talk about coked up! Added Quadrajet and Edlebrook manifold. Old school finned V/C w/ corvette script. 2pc. Cloyes timing chain cover and roller timing chain, with new gears. Old set had chipped plastic teeth and was running on some of the alum. teeth. No wonder I couldn't time it!
7 qt. oil pan w/ high volume pump. Urethane motor mounts as the orig. ones were in 2 pcs. Lokar throttle and kickdown cable, old one wasn't hooked up.
New repro. doors and entire grille area. New dash panel w/tach and vacuum gauge.
Just bought a tilt column thru your parts board. B&M shifter.
Left to do: Exhaust System, flowmasters w/catalytic converter and put the front end on again.
Near future to be done: doubler w/ triple stick
Well I guess I've bored you long enough with my rantings, promise my posts won't be this long, just wanted to introduce my truck. Thanks for your time, Jim

Thanks guys and gal. You people are very cordial, unlike another site. I guess I'll have to go out and buy a camera, since you say " this post is worthless without pics".
It's been a 4 year project and can't wait for it to end, I was just going to get it running... Jim

Hey Jim-
Welcome from SD! I really like the looks of that wood floor, man! If the floor was rusted out in my 70 I sure would consider replacing it like you did.
Keep the pics comin!

Those damn geese are all over this area. Open up a hunting season? I guess the weather is so nice they don't leave.
I'm supposed to do a FAQ on the wood bed. Thanks for the comps!
