View Full Version : Fully Shaved RACING29 08-10-2002, 12:01 AM I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE BUT I WANT TO SHAVE THE DOORS ON MY 67 PICKUP. IF ANYBODY HAS EVER DONE THIS I WOULD BE VERY THANKFUL IF YOU COULD TELL ME WHAT ALL I NEED. AND WHAT KIND OF MECHANISM TO OPEN THE DOORS. THANKS WickedStyle 08-10-2002, 02:09 AM For my truck I bought a kit from Dakota Digital. It included the actuators and couple remotes. A little fabricating and drilling was required to attach it to the release lever in the door but nothing too tough. The body work isn't too difficult just get some metal cut it in the right shape and slowly tack weld it in place. RACING29 08-10-2002, 10:08 AM HOW MUCH DID THE KIT COST? Go to http://www.dakotadigital.com and check out what they offer. They seem to have pretty good service. 73GMC 09-15-2002, 03:39 PM there are many considerations in a shave kit for your doors. One of the best you can get is from Auto Loc. They cost a bit more, but they have oustanding product. Basically, you are removing the handle mechanism and replacing it with a solenoid/actuator and electric switch with option for keyless entry via the door opener. door poppers are used to push the door out as the solenoid/actuator engages to open the door latch. poppers are basically loaded springs in a casing. it works like your hood. you pull the lever and the spring pops the hood up. basically, you can install the same kit on a hood or trunk as well. getting the right solenoid or actuator is the most important part. you don't want a cheap low lb.-weight solenoid on a door, especially if the door is old and doesn't open easy. lastly, after you get all the kit components installed, you have to remember to fix those open holes you now have in your door! good luck!!! :bowtie: Custom1 09-18-2002, 10:26 PM Go to this URL: http://www.customclassic.com/techsupport/shavedhandles/shaveinstructions.htm All parts guaranteed for life!
