How to place an ad

Find the catagory that best suites your for sale item.
Select "place an ad" at the upper right of the screen.

Step 2 just shows a drop down to be sure of the catagory you wish to post in. You can switch catagories from the dropdown menu.
Click submit.

Fill in the title AND location of your item ( no location is evil ;) )
upload your images, just as you would a post atachment.
Fill in or choose from the dropdown menus to fill out your ad info, such as price, what it is your selling,
how long you want the ad to run and keywords..
Keywords rock, use this... it is what helps people find your item in searches.. better keywords, the more visable your ad will be in the end..

click submit

You will be taken to a redirect screen, tellin you that your post was successfully added.

This last picture is showing the comment system. People can reply to your ads just liek a post. The comment system is basicly the same as the quick reply post system in the message board area.

to add a picture in a reply you need to use "IMG tags"

to do this you must have your picture hosted somewhere such as http://myoldtruck.com/gallery

then insert the following code into your reply
www.pictureurl.here

I like the new classifies, much easier to see what I can afford.
the question is how do i keep my signature out of my replies?
The rest of the quick replies have the option

I am warming up to the classifieds now that I have the pictures figured out. I do have a suggestioin though. I would like to see some text options when you place an add such as: Bold, Italics, Underlined, text color and so on. The only way I can exspress a point is by making it all caps and I am not sure that is effictive. You have these options for the quick reply but I have not seen them for posting adds.
Thanks

you can do that. heres an example http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=77 my last reply uses bold and red color.

You have to type in the bbcode to do so tho, instead of clicking the icons. There is a how to for using bbcode here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showpost.php?p=1788437&postcount=2

that will make this text appear red

that will make this text appear red

is the color code, i dont know if i ever added that in the FAQ yet

If you need any help with bb code, just shoot us a PM

I happen to REALLY like the new classifieds section. Its easier to see whats for sale without having to even open it, it shows a price also which might not be in your budget. You can easily see if the item is something your even looking for. Good job on the new classifieds!

The new classifieds is not bad. I just need to get used to the changes. What I really miss so far is being able to see who was the last poster on the thread without opening the thread, specially on my for sale threads.

The thing I don't like is getting mail notifications when I post in the thread. This didn't use to happen. I used to only get mail notifications when someone other than myself posts.

What I would like to see is people updating their ads with SOLD especially if it was a single item listing. Looked at several items today, just to find out a deal had already been made and item had been sold. Just a thought.

Sellers should update their ads. If you see ones that are not, PM a mod or admin and we can set it to sold as well.

Is there a searchable archive of the old forsale section? I would like to research pricing of days gone by.

Has "Classifieds Profile" been removed so you can no longer receive feedback? I can't find it anywhere.
