Hi Guys,
I've got a 1980 Honda Passport C70 that I would like to start riding, but can't due to a I believe a charging issue.
The other day when I kick started it, the turn signals, neutral light, was dim, and slow lighting. It even burned out the low beam, and the high beam too. I put a voltage meter on it, and at idle it's going from 6-8 volts (6 volt system), but if I give it some gas, it automatically jumps, and keeps going higher.
The system looks simple, but the wire colors do not match up with the wiring diagram colors i've got in the Honda 50cc-120cc repair manual. I pulled this chip off the side (2 prong), and it works in sequence with the flashers, light's would not work with it pulled. I then pulled the tube fuse out, same thing, no lights.
Also in the diagram the alternator is hooked directly into the turnsignal light system, then branches off from there into the kill switch, ignition switch.
I know my around cars & trucks, but not alot on bikes, just the basics.
What should I look at testing next? I don't want to fry nothing else.
TIA,
David
