Hello All.

Just wanted to take the time to introduce myself as a new member and post some pics of my truck (great, another project post). I have been watching your board for some time now as an outsider getting ideas and enjoying your posts. I thought it was about time that I joined in on the fun or, should I say, join in with all the other good people out there with the same addiction I have... Chevy Trucks.

I went out last fall looking for a 67-72 era work truck. Was my girlfriend surprised when I came home with the truck you see below. I couldn't pass it up and have enjoyed spending countless hours and $$$ on customizing it with a long way still to go.

After buying the truck, I got to know some guys around town who have a hot rod shop and the rest is history. Of the 4 guys at the shop, 1 has a 67 SWB project truck and a 69 SWB driver, another has a 71 SWB project, another has a 75 SWB driver and, finally, the fourth guy has a 2000 SWB driver. I knew I would fit in right away. I have included a picture of one of their other hot rods for your enjoyment.

The previous owner did a pretty nice job on the truck but here are some of the things I have done since... Replaced the manual drum front end with a 73-87 power disc brake swap, 2" drop spindle and 1" out of the springs. New 3:73 posi, 5-bolt axles and brakes in the rear, custom frame notch, swapped the leaf spring to the bottom of the axle housing and re-arched the spring pack (about 6" drop). New radiator, shroud, pulleys, alternator. Vintage Air sure-fit system. And, 17" Eagle Alloys.

Thanks again for welcoming me and enjoy the photos.

Here are a few more before and after pics of the front-end swap. The hot rod guys at the shop where we did the work suggested swapping out to the newer style (73-87) front end and cross-member. For anyone looking at updating their truck, this worked excellent. Everything bolted right in and the best part is, parts are cheap because they made a zillion of those trucks.

I also included a picture of a truck called "Orange Scream". I am thinking of going with the same paint color for my truck... Either that or a copper color (same as a Mitsubishi Eclipse). If you want more info on the Orange Scream, there are a ton more pics at the link below.

C10driver-
Welcome. You have a great lookin ride there. Very cool you are hooked up with such an experienced Rod Shop! Lookin foreward to seein more. Not tryin to hijack your thread but I also have to say to Legend56BC that if the WISSOTA racing association we have here was creative enuff to allow street stocks like that I'd be in one, man! Bet you have a good fan base since yer not runnin the same ol mid 80s GM cars that rules seem to be designed for.

Hi 70gmcjimmy,Yes I am getting a large following mainly with the kids and street rodders alike!I had starting building it when they tried getting a truck series up there but it failed so I am the "ONLY" truck running in that series on a "FULL" original truck chassis..doing the "It won't work" but for some reason it is working...I will have to changed the front truck frame clip to a 73-77 Chevelle for next year brecause we are building a stronger engine and I need more adjustment in the front end..I love classic trucks and racing so there it is.... 409,

The paint and body on the orange truck was done by "Extreme Metal & Paint" of Anacortes, Washington. I found it through a Google search on the internet and thought it was a top-notch example of one of our trucks... If you want more info, you can find it at:

Thanks to everyone for the welcome. I have big plans for the truck this winter once it comes off the road. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on my progress.

Welcome from Chilliwack. Is one of the guys at the hot rod shop Jim webster, if so that is one talented guy. MY dad had a van custom painted by him back in 1983 and is getting his 1956 nomad done by him too.

The guys in Kelowna that I run with have a shop called Raw Hot Rods. Most of them have been at it forever and are a great bunch of guys to boot. They like to build cars and trucks but drive them also. We have been on a couple of runs this year... One to the Hot Rod Cafe car show in Post Falls Idaho and another down to the NW Nationals in Yakima Washington. It's fun to build these trucks but even more fun to get them out and put a few miles on them.

Thanks again for the welcome.
