I'm going to be picking up a 47-54 truck soon, and I know that I want to bag it till it lays. I have this crazy idea though of removing the running boards, and lowering the cab in relation to the bed and front end so that the truck lays the 4 fenders and the doors on the ground. I know its alot more complicated than that, but Im just trying to see if anyone has seen this before, and what yall think about it. If anyone has pictures of something like this, post up! Thanks

Welcome... It depends on the front end you use and if you notch the frame over the rear axle. But it should lay out without moving the body or fenders

The frame sits fairly high up in the cab as it is so with a MII with drop spindles and a deep notch you should be able to get all 4 on the ground.

Im trying to go further than laying the fenders and running boards. Basically what Im thinking about doing is laying the feners and running board, then remove the running boards, raise the front fenders on the cab, and move the cab down till it lays on the ground. Then pie cut or whatever the term of it is, and cut the hood down hieght wise so it sits ontop the stock front fenders and matches up with the cowl area of the truck.

So it would be a running boardless truck, that lays all 4 fenders, and the actual door of the cab on the ground.

And Im asking what you all think of this looks wise, and if you have seen it before. Im not trying to be the first or anything like that, but if its been done I want to see pics to make sure its what I want...

I think if you didn't it might look like a tugboat.

im only going to do what looks right, so after I do the inital bodydrop, then I will decide if I chop it, and how much I do...

this is what it could look like...running boardless and bodydropped. Also extended out the front bottom bed piece to look more complete without running boards.

How about channel it all, cust the bottoms off the front fenders to match your line, relo the bumper, maybe massage the grill...and not touch the hood at all?

Just a thought and a different way to go, unless you are really looking at working and stretching the hood.

the hood will be no harder than a pancaked hood is, which is hard, but do able. The point of doing this is to keep stock doors while subtracting out some of the height from the overall truck. I love these trucks, my only turn off is the height in the hood, and how much higher the rear window is from the bed, dropping the cab solves both problems.

Awesome, that's metal fabbing beyond what I have the patience for.

So you bring the fenders up a little and pan the hood I think it will look good. The roof isn't a pronounced and the 55-59 so it doesn't have that tugboat look I thought it would. It would actualy look like you choped it.

and the way the back window sits on the bed it looks like a section as well...
