I know there must be a difference between the 60-63 and 64 up grilles my question is whats the difference? I saw the whole center brace thing but what else is different.

I have a 62 and cannot find a grille for it any where. I see the 64 up grilles everywhere but I guess what I am trying to get at is can I put a 64 grille on my 62. Perhaps just buy the center bracket and drill some new holes or make mounting tabs on my 62 front radiator support? I believe the headlights and fenders are the same so I am not sure on the differences.

Thanks guys,

I too have been looking for a good/decent '62 C10 grille, since i've really loved the GMC my grandpa had, I found a pretty nice daily driver chrome GMC grille on Ebay for $25.

I did spot a complete '62 C10 grille at the Turlock Swapmeet sunday for $45, just needed paint, I didn't pick ip up do to me blowing my money earlier in the morning. :o

To mount a different year grille, all you have to do(maybe) is drill a few holes in to the grille support pan (sheetmetal behind grille). I had to drill 2 holes to mount a '64 GMC grille. Make sure if you get a grille try to get the wiring with it, especially if it's a quad headlight setup. All these trucks used the same wiring plug, so it's a plug & go setup.

1960-61 Chevy's had quad headlights,
62, 63, 64,65, & 66 Chevy's had single headlights,
GMC's all had the same quad headlight grill for the whole run of this body style.

First of all only the 60-61 grills had dual headlights..............the gmc grills for all 60-66 were dual headlights................the 62 grill had single headlights but the headlight doors were large and oval......... are you looking for a painted grill or the aluminum grill for your 62???????...........hemmit

Classic Parts has the 1962 Chevrolet C10 grills. They say that they're rechromed grills. You need $475 to get one though. Their website is www.classicparts.com

what you have there is a 60 or 61 grill...........a lot of times the grills ,hoods and other parts were swapped out and replaced with parts from other years............you probably got that grill off of a 62 but it really isn't a 62...................hemmit

Hemmit is correct, that's a '60.

60, 61, 62, and 63 each had their own grill. I think that's why no one is reproducing them -- too little demand.

The 62 "chrome" grill is actually aluminum, btw.

The 62 grill that Classic Parts has is rechromed according to the website. My guess is that they find original grills and have them repaired and rechromed.

chevyman, I looked at the classiparts website and even called them, at first they wanted me to send them my grill to be rechromed then they came back and said they didnt have a chromer right now. I dont even know if mine can be straightened out enough to be rechromed. Do you know where i can get a good steel one to be rechromed or maybe one thats been done already?

LOL the GMC grille on ebay is mine…. If you need more photos or have any questions let me know. It is up to $57.00 now and I know 98-beatle is willing to go $100.00 (he is trying to be sneaky) only one day left.

Look at my photo at your left that’s the grille and the hood it is sitting on, on ebay.

I was looking on Classic Parts website yesterday bigblock and noticed that they no longer had the 60, 61, 62, or 63 grills listed, they only had the supports for those. I don't know what's up with that but that sucks because I was going to need a 63 grill whenever I start to redo my 63 C10. That's not the first time they've had a grill listed for a while and then taken it off the site, they had a 68 reproduction grill listed most of last year and they took it off earlier this year and I was also going to need one of those when I started rebuilding my 68 C10.

Like hemmit says, these parts get swoped like mad. That gmc grille was on our 62 Chevy with the 63 fenders 19?? hood and all sitting on a 63 – 66 frame. And when it is done it will have power steering and power disc brakes, witch GM trucks didn’t have until 1972. You just can’t tell by looking what year this truck is. And that goes for about 80% of the other 60 – 66 Chevy/GMC trucks out there. Like I have said before it is a lot more fun and easier to customize than restore. So there are very few really popular cars and trucks left all original. Sad but true.
