And Got stuck on the side of the road today.

1994 Chevy Blazer Fullsize 4x4 350 Auto

Was getting low on fuel and she cut out at an intersection, and when i went to start it up again, no go. It had cut out a time or two a few mins earlier, and it took a couple turns of the ignition to get it to start, (wouldnt fire the starter)

For a while, Acc still worked, then everything cut out.

Call for a tow.

Check fuses, all good.

Pop the hood, blew a fusable link on the Junction Block. (2nd from the left, top wire)

Ok, cut some wire out of my stereo and put it in. Got Acc back, try to crank and that burnt out the new wire. ok, put in two wires (thicker) same problem.

Here be where I sit. I dont know where this fusable link runs to as it just goes to a bunch or wires all taped up (factory)
I cant find a picture or description on Google.

Any ideas? Where do I start looking? The starter was good before all this happened, but it did seem to be drawing alot for the last year or so (ain't broke didnt fix it)

Also, I put in 2 new JBL speakers in the back using the stock wiring last night. I don't think this would have any effect on things, but I gotta add it. Stereo in truck is 4x JBL 4x6's and 1 JBL 12 inch sub and amp.

Any Ideas to keep me from pulling my hair out chasin this thing would be awesome!!

Thanks!

Wow Awesome Thank you very much!
Any ideas on why the fusable link keeps blowing? (Whats the other part of the puzzle?)

We will have to see in the morning what is connected to that circuit. Does the wire blow when you turn the key on, or when you try to crank it?

that fusable link is suppose to blow in case there is a short to prevent the wiring from catching on fire although it doesn't always work putting stereo or speaker wire or whatever will melt everytime you can patch it with another fusable link from the junkyard if you like or put some heavy duty wire in it to patch it i have done this and it worked for me hope that is helpful

alrighty update.... got things apart in the shop now

(fusable link blows when you turn key to 'crank', btw)

Pulled starter off, tested on bench, and it works as it should.

Under truck, put voltmeter on wiring, main starter wire reads 12v all the time and solenoid wire reads 12v when ign is in 'crank' position.
(I put in a new jumper wire for the fusable link to test things. When this is not connected, nothing ignition related works.)

Due to previous starter problems I have had (it used to hang up on me alot) I think replacing the starter and fusable link should solve my problems (because I have power to the starter.)

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

EDIT!!!

We've got some nasty lookin mashed up wires.... so I'm gonna replace them and the fusable link and go from there. Hopefully I dont need a new starter!
