Today when I used Firefox I kept getting these. The SSL message was when I tried to look at a tire site & the other one about passwords was when I tried to log to the board. I opened Explorer & do not get these messages,so that tells me it's a Firefox problem but I don't have a clue on what to do.Any body know?

I normally only see that when it is a site designed only to run with IE. Either that or you don't have the SSL's selected in firefox. Check tools, options, advanced and make sure you have both SSL 2 and SSL3 checked.

Bill, I went into, tools,options, advanced,security & SSL 2.0 - SSL 3.0 & use tls 1.0 were all checked.

I didn't get the error when I check the site, try and uncheck the TLS 1.0, since mine doesn't have it checked. Other than that I am brain dead at the moment.

I don't mind uninstalling & reinstalling if that would fix it,I just would like to save my bookmarks.

I started using Google toolbar since it saves my bookmarks to my account. That way I have my favorites no matter where I access the net from. Yahoo! and a host of others have similar features.

Never seen anything like that - I would need to search Google. I personally do not like Firefox much, so I'm not sure I'd be able to help :(

To save your favorite/shortcuts, whatever firefox calls them, just got into your Bookmarks, manage bookmarks. Then used the file/export command. It will save all your bookmarks into an HTML file where ever you choose to save it. Then try a reinstall if you want. Not sure why, I am running Firefox and don't get the error. Did you try unhecking the TLS 1.0, since I don't have that one marked, maybe that is the culprit.

Yes I did & it did not make a diff.

Found this, so maybe it will help

http://kb.mozillazine.org/SSL_is_disabled

I believe the data base file "cert8.db" or "cert7.db" (mine is cert8.db) has become corrupted and the easy fix is to delete or rename the current db file and run Firefox. Firefox will replace the file with a good one and ... voila ... you're up and running. This is a quick fix but it still doesn't explain how it happened. The file will be under your profile folder. I did a search for "cert*.db". Make sure you tell it to look in hidden or system folders otherwise you won't find it. I found it in 2 locations.

Lot about this on the web, but since this was the first time I heard of it, I didn't look much. Seems no one is real sure of why it is happening yet, other than Mozilla is not fully supporting SSL 2.0 (just a guess though) now, which should not matter a whole lot as it is or has been replaced on most sites with SSL 3.0 or the TSL 1.0

Maybe this will get you going again
