I had them do two tone inserts and they forgot the door panels. What kind of mods ya doing? I'm going with Escalade handles, chrome mirrors, and ditching the door moulding. Part# 07498 (TRUST ME!!) Spent alot of time doing the Meguiars 3 step system on the paint. I am looking into the FOOSE nitrous 6 wheel in a 22 Maybe a 2/4 drop as well. I cant leave anything alone. We also cleaned his ride up. N2TRUX 09-04-2006, 12:38 AM That pinstripe is going away as soon as I get it home. That Foose wheel is sweet. I'm looking at the Eagle Alloy 026 in a 22". The problem is finding the correct tires size. My buddy has 305/40/22's and the rub bad. I don't want that to deal with. I just won an auction on Ebay for a overhead console with Homelink. I'll add that along the way....:) phantom dually 09-04-2006, 01:15 AM That pinstripe is going away as soon as I get it home. That Foose wheel is sweet. I'm looking at the Eagle Alloy 026 in a 22". Supposed to be a very good wheel with GOOD chrome plating. BTW tirerack recommends a 22x10 wheel with a +15mm offset and a 305/40/22 tire. I have to assume your friend truck is lowered?? N2TRUX 09-04-2006, 09:50 PM That's a good looking wheel. I like it better that the 026 because it doesn't have the rivits to trap water. My buddies truck (N2billet) only has shackles in the rear. He bought his tires and wheels from Tire Rack. He says they are cutting the tires up pretty bad. We think maybe Tire Rack got the back space wrong. What wheels does your buddy have? phantom dually 09-04-2006, 10:29 PM That's a good looking wheel. I like it better that the 026 because it doesn't have the rivits to trap water. They are made by Mazzi but Ill get the backspacing and make 100% sure he doesnt rub as he said. Where are his tire rubbing at? Also do you know his BS? N2TRUX 09-04-2006, 11:24 PM Unfortunately he doesn't know what his backspace is. He told them what he had when he ordered them and they seemed to fit just fine when he put them on. From what he says when he hits big bumps, dips, etc, the tires actually get cut by the fender lip. I'm going to send him a link to this thread and let him get involved. I would really like to run 40 series 22's. Maybe between all of us we can figure out the right combination. Dang I suck..... Pictures are worth more than what I can peck on the keyboard so I took some real quick so they may help in our discussion. I can't remember what the b/s is on the rims because it's been over a year and those numbers got pushed out of the head a long time ago. I had my guy @ Discount get them from TireRack because they have a deal worked with the wheel company anyway, I talked with both companies and they told me that with the 305/40's I would have zero trouble with rubbing if I didn't lower it. I had planned on a 2/4 drop but decided I would just drop the rear and drive off to into the sunset without a care in the world. That dream lasted a day, me and the wife where out house searching when I ran into a small dip in the road and then got to listen as rubber get's cut away by the inner fender lip and with a stupid look on my face turn to my wife and said "that was the sound of 300 dollars getting ripped" to add insult to injury we get out at the next house chosen by the wife and when we get to the front door she say's "what's wrong with your fender?" I turned around to find that the tire had pulled the fender lip straight down and had cut the top of the tire as well. I then spent the next few minutes trying to find a suitable tool to help remedy the situation. I found a new 2x2 stake that got the lip back in line again and after a year you can still find that stake laying in the back of my truck waiting for the next dip in the road........I hate my wheels........but I'm ready to help solve the b/s question. I did some research and it looks like a +35 offset on a 9 1/2 inch wheel will tuck......Let the games begin and let’s see what wheels will work and maybe I'll get that 2/4 drop that I wanted from the start and put my trusty stake in the trash for good  phantom dually 09-05-2006, 09:12 PM Nitto 420's I take it?? Looked ar my friends truck today and he said that the front does rub very very little. And his RUBS are only on very sharp full radius turns that only happen when he hits a dip at the same time. He is not rubbing on the upper fender though. He is rubbing on the inner plastic fender toward the front of the truck. He also has the Nitto 420 tire. I am going to try and get a wheel off and measure backspacing in inches. Also did you do the 2" shackle in the rear?? How about rolling the inner fender a bit? N2TRUX 09-05-2006, 09:28 PM ..... Also did you do the 2" shackle in the rear?? How about rolling the inner fender a bit? Yes, he does have a 2" shackle. n2billet 09-05-2006, 10:59 PM How about rolling the inner fender a bit? Nothing to roll, it's flat against the inner fender. I have thought about welding it to the inner fender to keep it from pulling it down but if I go to that much trouble I might as well get serious and get the Air Ride stuff out and lay it out. Keep in mind that 2" shackles really equal about an inch or so worth of drop... I have found that if I have weight in the back (like 100-160 pounds) it doesn't rub on the dip by my house.......In the back of my mind I keep thinking if I could get the rear down just another 1 - 1 1/2 I wouldn't have this problem as bad......I would rather get new wheels and drop it 2/4 so I could still pull my trailers.... phantom dually 09-06-2006, 05:32 PM Do you think a 2/4 without helper bags would be ok with lets say a 18ft car hauler? n2billet 09-07-2006, 10:06 PM Do you think a 2/4 without helper bags would be ok with lets say a 18ft car hauler? I've been pulling a 21ft aluminum trailer with my truck as it sits now without any problems, as a matter of fact it rode better! I think we're on the same page....I want my truck to be dropped 2/4 with 22's without all the tire cutting and still be able to pull a car trailer..... Ken...I'm waiting on pictures of the new truck with the new rims.....don't act like you don't have it done already......I've known you too long.....so give them up! N2TRUX 09-07-2006, 11:01 PM Actually I just picked it up tonight. They screwed up when it was shipped off to add leather and didn't two tone the door panels as requested. Of course I didn't find this out until Thursday evening so it wasn't sent back out again until Tuesday. In return for having to jack with the door panels the guys at Classic Soft Trim put a scratch in the paint. Grrr..:( I did order the Escalade door handles and chrome mirror caps but that's it. I'm still trying to figure out what tire/wheel combo is going to work. Pics coming tomorrow when. phantom dually 09-07-2006, 11:05 PM Actually I just picked it up tonight. I just got an 06 Tahoe awhille back. I looked all over for 22's but I am going to use the Tahoe to pull a car trailer and boat. So I went with 20's. I also lowered it with springs and torsion keys. I looks good with the 20's lowerd. I also put on a cowl hood, roll pan and removed the roof rack. Next I am going to do the Escalade handles like N2TRUX. Nothing is stock at my House!!!! phantom dually 09-09-2006, 08:59 PM Went ahead and ordered my wheels and tires today. Got the Black Rhino (TSW) wheels in a 22x9 with a nitto 420 tire. Backspacing is +20mm on a 9" wheel. Cant wait to get them on. I put a set of drop shackles on the rear this morning and brought it down 1.5" Being a chevy the truck sits exactly 1/2" lower on the pass side vs the DS?? Go fiqure. Here is a quick pic again!! N2TRUX 09-09-2006, 09:08 PM What size tire did you go with? I talked to my tire guy again today and he said I could get by with a 305/40 but the 305/45 would give me problems. I spent most of the day playing with my truck too. I got whale tail removed, and the Snug lid installed. I put a shackle on as well. Yep, mine was the same as yours, sitting at least a half inch lower on the driver side. I pulled the front license plate, and now I have to pick up some stainless pan head screws to cover the holes. N2TRUX 09-09-2006, 10:10 PM I don't know why the lean, but the kid that installed my Snug lid says ever one that he has seen does it. Some are over an inch difference. I know exactly what your talking about on the time to clean the glue off. I'll try to find one of the 3M wheels tomorrow. I ran so much today that I didn't have time to look for one. I'm not sure what the options are for adding more bass. Take a look over at www.fullsizechevy.com in the audio forum and you will probably get more info than you can stand. I have been looking at adding Sirius radio. I have it in my Dodge QC truck and like the comedy channels. I just hate paying a monthly fee. I got a free radio and lifetime subscription when I bought my Dodge so I'm spoiled. phantom dually 09-09-2006, 11:12 PM I don't know why the lean, but the kid that installed my Snug lid says ever one that he has seen does it. It seems that there is a issue with the CC's leaning badly that I wasn't aware of. Keith, I know you are pretty good at checking this things, how bad is yours off. After a bit of research I am finding that there is a GM service bulletin regarding the front. I haven't found anything about the rear though. Ironically mine doesn't really look like it's leaning that much. phantom dually 09-10-2006, 09:44 AM I guess mine only being 1/2" off isnt bad then?? That CC up top there is NICE. Not very practical with that sidewall on the tire at all though. I have to be able to pull atrailer and the sidewall of the 305/40/22 is good for that. I really am trying to keep this thing as a DD and not go overboard. I doubt I will ever lower mine more than the shackles I have put in. N2TRUX 09-10-2006, 09:49 AM Yeah, I'm with you on the rubber band tires. I won't go any lower with mine either. Remember the time I loaded my 95 full of video games and hauled them back to Houston? Those airlift bags worked awesome on that trip. Also when is the moldings coming off?? N2TRUX 09-11-2006, 12:45 AM Whats up with the factory wheel change?? Also when is the moldings coming off?? I thought the chrome wheels looked better than the alloy wheels. They are going on my 95 X-cab when they come off of this one. I had planned to pull the moulding and badges today, but got sidetracked on another project. I bought a new tube for my Cruiser bicycle and wanted to get it installed. Of course that lead to a complete detail and a long ride through the hood... Tomorrow I will try to find a 3M wheel...:metal: N2TRUX 09-18-2006, 01:22 AM No wheels yet. I went by my local tire store and looked at what came in. I went home dissapointed. The only one they had that I liked is pictured below. During my running around this weekend I stopped at 9 different auto parts stores looking for a 3M stripe off wheel. I got 6 blank stares, one guy showed me a small wire wheel, and one guy went in the back and brought out an abrasive wheel..... So I got 4 emblems off the hard way. I used the fishing line trick to cut them off then spent an hour or two with WD40 and my thumbnail getting the rest of the glue off. Needless to say I did NOT take the side moulding off. http://www.wheelresource.com/v2006/Wheels/Viscera/475/638.jpg phantom dually 09-19-2006, 10:57 PM Ken Napa had the 3M wheel in stock. Got my wheels in today and got them on the truck. It was dark out so no pics yet!! Got my remote start hooked up today. Also got the windows to go up and down by remote. Ill get a few pics tomorrow pending rain! N2TRUX 09-22-2006, 08:48 AM Yeah, get those pictures posted. I am still trying to make up my mind in wheels. I went back to where I bought my Snug Lid yesterday and had them install a set of Westin Sport Tubes. They are the same chrome tubes that came on the 02-03 Harley F-150. I felt like this thing needed something to set the black off. The chrome tubes makes a big difference. While I was there I had them drop the shackle on the drivers side down a hole. This effectively raised the driver side and now the truck sits the same on both sides. I can't believe this thing ended up leaning 1.5" on one side. That helped my ride quit a bit too. I didn't realize how bad it was bottoming out on the bumpstop. Now I have to cut my stops down and figure out how to lower it again. Do they make a 3" shackle for these trucks? Can I buy just one? phantom dually 09-23-2006, 02:08 PM Im not sure you will get a 3" shackle in between the bed and the upper part of the shackle. I can get some pics but its raining!! n2billet 09-23-2006, 10:09 PM Phantom....can you (when it stops raining) get a picture from the rear looking down the side? I would like to see how your wheels looks...sticking out or all the way in........oh and maybe from the front too? phantom dually 09-24-2006, 01:05 AM Phantom....can you (when it stops raining) get a picture from the rear looking down the side? I would like to see how your wheels looks...sticking out or all the way in........oh and maybe from the front too? I can do that. I have had so far 18' 1800# trailer with a 5000# truck on this. N2TRUX 09-24-2006, 11:02 AM The wheels look great. It really set the truck off. So those are 305/40/22's? I just want to make sure that I get the right tire. I don't know if I should contact my dealers service manager about my truck being so low or not. My guess is they will not do anything if I have the shackles on there. phantom dually 09-24-2006, 04:50 PM The wheels look great. It really set the truck off. So those are 305/40/22's? Here's a 3/5 on 285/35/22's http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m85/SpooledA4/24d45e33.jpg http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m85/SpooledA4/IMG_1643.jpg TheLlama 09-25-2006, 10:20 PM Not sure what you sre talking about. I picked up my Escalade handles and chrome mirror caps this weekend. Forum member 72cstK5 (Carlos) brought them to Dallas for me. I took them by the bodyshop today and got a sneak peak. The side molding is gone now along with the pinstripes. I put the chrome mirror caps on and they looked great against the freshly painted mirrors. My buddy is going to install the handles and mirror glass tonight so I can pick it up in the morning. Now I need to make a decision on wheels...:( phantom dually 10-02-2006, 02:56 PM Cut your wheels all the way to the left or right and tell me they dont rub... Ill check that. The only place I have noticed is a spot the rub at FULL turn is on the fender well inner plastic piece. 71on20s 02-20-2007, 02:24 AM heres my 06 on 4/6 drop http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o264/eddiefroxx/DSCF0861.jpgmcgaughy http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o264/eddiefroxx/DSCF0862.jpg turbochevy 02-20-2007, 10:09 AM Nice truck, I sure do miss mine :( I still have it, but it is pretty much stock now. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y252/blownchevy/P1010113.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y252/blownchevy/P1010111.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y252/blownchevy/LS2TB1.jpg in Action: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y252/blownchevy/th_24vvsblownchevy.jpg (http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y252/blownchevy/?action=view¤t=24vvsblownchevy.flv) 71on20s 02-20-2007, 10:03 PM thanks and urs is pretty cool too |
