My 13 year old son and I are tearing apart a 51 5 window and we are trying to get some good info. What is the best thing to do about the orginal front end. I keep hearing to use either a camaro or mustang II. Does anyone have plans and directions and stuff like that so we can get cooking on this project?

Welcome to the board from a fellow Texan. The camaro front clip is one of the most popular clips used under that era truck. My dad is redoing a 49 3 window and is keeping the straight axle under it. He just upgraded the wheel bearing from the ball bearing originals to the roller type from a 58 that we parted out that matched perfectly.

Welcome, sounds like an awesome project. The front end realyl depends on budget, alot of guys put camaro suspension clips on them, or mustang II or i've even seen a few 71-87 front suspension setsup on them. Check out the message forums and I knwo you'll get good input on your questions :)
