I was curious about this undercoating stuff, that some guys at my paint store told me about? http://www.magnetpaints.com/underbody.asp They said I could blast my frame, let it set outside a few days and rust up, then spray Chassis Saver right over the rust and it will stick and never peel off, flake off, etc and the rust will be destroyed underneath!! Is this true or not? Has anyone here used it before? I don't wanna pay $70/gal, if it's crap...? Thanks

Well, I'm a little new to all this, what's POR-15? I saw on the Chassis Saver link, that it said it was better than POR-15, but I have no clue what it is?

so if your frame is blasted already, why wouldnt you just spray it with epoxy or etch primer then black urethane???? dupont makes an industrial epoxy that you can get in colors (or black) that sticks to bare metal if you wanted to do it in one step. i just dont see the point of doing it right (blasting) then doing it wrong (por/chassis saver)

I didn't say my frame was blasted, did I? And if I do prime/paint, I'm not wasting urethane paint on the frame...

They said I could blast my frame, let it set outside a few days and rust up,

so you were planning on using the product, but not even using it like the instructions said???

No, I was asking about the product, geez. My paint guys said blast it, let it set a day or two and apply this stuff right on and I was seeing if it was BS or not!

I used another brand of the same type product on a diesel tank. The stuff did not bond to the tank very well. I will not paint anything again with out sand blasting followed by self etching primer then a urethane primer coat over that. I may be wasting my money, but at least I will be wasting money on something that will last. To make this experiance worse a cousin supplied we with a gallon top coat that his company swears by, I can scrape it off with my fingernail.
