Ok. This 68 I've inherited was repainted years ago. (white). Until I'm ready to think about paint and body, I'd like to keep what's there in good shape. It feels all gritty and such. Actually, I've come to the conclusion that the paint job did not include clear. I can see in the front end around the headlights where they didn't paint and the original is there in better condition than the rest and that part definitely does have a clear coat. I took a small piece of the hood, cleaned it, clay barred, and then put a bit of wax on it. Now that area beads up nice during the rain and doesn't look half bad.

So my question is, assuming there's not clear coat and I take the time to clay the thing smooth. What's the best thing I can do wax-wise to treat, protect, and make it look as good as I can with no clear coat.

If it has no clear, I would try compounding the shine back.
