I have a 96 5.7 K1500 suburban and it looks as if the cat's will need replacing. I've 'always' wanted to buy headers and weld together a full back dual system. Cat's are a must as we head through the inspection lanes every two years (for older vehicles) in my state. Does anyone have recommendations on headers that work (or don't work on the 96+ vortec engines? J.C. Whitney has cats with various configurations (dual/single in, 2.5", 3", etc)-anyone with experience with these? I weld, so I would buy the mandrel bent pieces and weld everything together myself. tips on what does or doesn't work would be :help:

sorry for the followup question so quickly: for those who have replaced a header back system, are the results quite noticable? i would hate to go through all this expense and trouble and not have a quicker truck!
