Anyone know of anybody who does Prom burning for 88 and newer chev trucks in the fraservalley or vancouver area??? Any help would be appreciated. I have the motor ready to be swapped and the mods are a little to much for the stock computer i think. THanks again

Hey man!

You're on the right track going to a person who will actively dyno tune your new engine! Those aftermarket chips typically just increase the timing across the board, then have you run higher octane, and lower engine temperatures to accomodate the messed up timing.

I don't know of any dyno tuning places in your area, but just head down to any speed shop, and they can probally give you a good idea of where to start looking.

Even after getting it dyno tuned, there will always be room for improvement. I'd reccommend going to www.moates.net, and ordering a G2 Adapter, BURN1 programmer, and a couple of 27SF512 flash chips, then ordering a low profile ZIF from 'joshuavillasenor' on ebay. It takes about half an hour to unsolder the old chip holster, and solder in the adapter, then pop the ZIF in.

You won't be able to put the lid on the ECM, but if you set it up the way moates intended it, you should be able to pop the final chip in, and close up the cover later.

You can then use a laptop with a USB port, and TunerPro RT to totally tune your truck up to perfection from the comfort of your driver's seat :) You're able to record the data, then when you finish driving, look at the log / tables, change what is needed, then burn a new chip on the spot using the BURN1.

The stock chips have less pins (24 instead of 28) and were UV erased chips. UV erasers arn't particularly cheap, and the chips have a bad habit of going bad pretty quickly, so the newer flash chips are just the cat's meow, less having to modify the ECM to make it fit, and programming everything in on an offset.
