wow man, incredible job on the tank. The tank itself, the mounts everything.
The baffles in the tank are great, I'm guessing the pick-up will be in the middle chamber? I know some people put a special foam in the tank to help reduce the sloshing, but the baffles are awesome, and maintenance free for all intensive purposes.
I also really dig that mount for the tranny you made.
Def going to be a top notch truck once it's done. Keep up the great work.

Turbo's are still up in the air but i got the v-band clamps because it fits through my exhaust holes in the frame to remove section if needed.

Thanks for the complements. Yeah the fuel pump and sender is going to go in the middle and a large alluminum blank will be bolted down so you have access to the parts.

Do you mean what process of welding I used or what machine do i have? The gas tank was tig welded and i have a Miller Dynasty 200dx with a coolmate 3 water cooled torch setup. Thanks for the complements

So the bed structure you built is welded directly to the bedsides?

Yeah it is welded directly to the bedsides. The front panel and rear panel are welded where the metal turns 90*. I am also going to weld the front panel to the besides to have a cleaner look. The steel around the tires was built to match the inner fenders so they have something to bolt to.

Well i got a little more done. I was able to get the driverside header done but it was a long week. I originally built a "shorty" header but after i got it built i decided that i wanted long tubes and i wanted them equal length primaries. So i started over and built a new header:crazy:. I did some reasearch and found out that 32" primaries are the ideal length for the LS1's. The final out come was well worth my frustrations because it looks sweet, equal length primaries (which was a pain in the a$$ to design and build), long tube header, all tucked in the frame (nothing is hangin below the frame) and the best part of it all the collector is the exact height as the rest of the exhaust so from the collector through my frame is all the same height so it will be nice and level. I still have to do a little more welding and build the other side but that should be easier or hopefully less frustrating:confused: . Anyways here are some pics and in some of the pics the 3rd tube looks like it is close to the frame but it is actually has plenty of clearance.

Thanks Nate! It was a fun and fustrating to build. All the bends are from SPD which from my research is one best suppliers for manderal bent tubing. They have some of the newest and highest quality machines to bend the tubing so you get almost perfect bends that aren't deformed.. The collectors and the bullets are from Cone Engeering. Very easy to install and they flow slightly better than a welded high dollar collector and a fairly inexpensive. At least what there test say. Here are the links incase you or anyone else is interested.

Awesome! Ive always wanted to try to build a set of headers.

You should give it a try. There not cheaper but you can build them to your specific needs and clearances. It helps if you have a few specific tools. Normal headers (non equal length) would have been much easier. Let me know if you give it a try and need a few tips.

That was no gentleman, that was me! :) We're going to have two different quality levels of individual bends, standard and show quality. Unfortunately the show quality will be much more expensive. The standard quality are perfect for 90% of the builds out there. We also have packaged builder kits with a variety of bends that save money from buying individual bends. The first offerings should be up on the website in about 2 weeks, maybe sooner. The new v-band clamps are really popular. They are also available in two different versions, standard and a lightweight race version.

Well since i am waiting for the passenger side header flange so i can start building the header I took the cab off and started roughing in the rest of the exhaust. I love the way it is looking and i decided to keep the exhaust off to one side so it allows room for access to all the hard lines that are going to be on the inside of the frame. Anyways here are a few pics.

Josh,

Did you decide on how you will exit the exhaust?

Well I have been thinking about it and I think (key word is think) I might run it all the way to the rear roll pan. As you know i was originally going to do a side exhaust but I thought i might still be able to do something kind of cool by running it all the way back. I thought maybe some cool rectangle w/ rounded corners exhaust tip flush with the rear roll pan cut into the roll pan might look good. Does that make sence? I will see if i can find a pic of something similiar.

Finally got the passenger side header done. It has a slightly different design than the drivers side header. The reason for that is because there is less room on the passenger side because of the starter. It made it more difficult to design but a little easier to build. I still have to finish welding the primaries to the flanges but needed a little brake first. Anyways here is some pics and hopefully tonight or tomorrow i can get the rest of the exhaust built underneath the cab.

Well i decided to change my gas tank. The more i kept looking at it I liked the design but it just didn't fit the style of my frame. Plus i finally decided where i am going to put all of my compressors, tanks, and ride pro solenoids which wasn't on the frame so there was no reason to have the gas tank with that notch. So i built a new one which i love. If flows nice with the frame, stronger since i put in a full piece of solid aluminum tubing spanning from one side to the other side on where it mounts to the frame. I still have to weld the top on but i need to figure out how i am going to get the electrical in the tank for the fuel pump. Trying to come up with something clean and can't think of anything. So until i decide on something the top will stay unwelded. The tank will be powdercoated when all done.

Also i got my new rear end (pre 69) so now my wheels will fit in the rear fenders :metal:. The axles are getting re-drilled to the correct bolt pattern as we type so this weekend i am going to roll the truck outside and fully assemble all the sheet metal parts except the hood. I am dying to see what it looks like fully assembled. Then in about 2 weeks or so i am starting on the engine. I have decided to build a custom sheet metal (aluminum) intake manifold, and valve covers. I love the look of the sheet metal intakes and my father used to work for Hogans Manifolds so between the two of us we are hoping to bang something out that looks sick and performs well. I know i could buy one but where is all the fun in that:lol:. Anyways here are some pics of the gas tank. My battery for my camera died so this weekend i will take some more.

ps. YZF450 this weekend i can get you those pics.

josh, this thing is so SICK. Makes mine look like a joke LOL.

Where did you get those blue bushings that you used on your exhaust hangers? Also, do you know how those magnaflow mufflers sound? I like the fact that they are small.

One more question, I noticed in one of your pics you have a metal plate on the cab mount rubber bushing on the forward drivers side. Are you leaving it there when you install the cab? I have taken two cabs off their frame and both had a shim on that cab mount.

Thanks for the complements jlaird! Your truck is pretty bad a$$ too! I got those blue exhaust bushings from IRONWORKS speed and kustom. I ordered my SPD exhaust tubing from them and I went over to there shop to pick it up and while i was there i saw those blue bushings. I asked if i could buy some and he hooked me up. Do you need a few? I could probably get you some. PM me if you do. Regarding that shim on the front cab bushing, yes i am using them for the front and rear of the cab mounts. When i ordered the cab mounts they came with these shims so i decided to use them. I heard the magnaflow mufflers sound great but i don't have any personal experience with them until now. They are pretty sweet since they tuck up into the frame and are flush with the bottom of the frame.

ps. Just for everyones knowledge. If you get a pre 69 rear end the max recommended wheel backspacing is 4.5" on a 10" wide wheel. It won't fit on a 70 and up rear end. I learned that out the hard way. It leaves you just under 3/4" per side of clearance which should be plenty. Just sharing that info

I am going to build my own wood floor for the truck. I have a fair amount of wood working tools so i was thinking about either curley maple, maybe walnut. Thanks Raguemoe! I will look for my receipt to see what i paid and where i got them. I don't remember off the top of my head but they were great to do business with. I think with rims, tires and the cost to get them powdercoated came out to just $3500-3750 but that is just off the top of my head. I think i might have got too much backspacing for the front wheels. I haven't takin the time to adjust the steering so i can't be sure but i am a little worried.
