Boise69 11-07-2006, 10:29 PM an understanding wife... why is this such a rarity? would she rather i be in a bar or working on my car? (truck that is)? women just can't be happy no matter what you do, therefore dont bother. mine is tolerant but theres a limit. if only i'd work on mine in our garage shed be happier but she'd complain her car (that i bought) would be outside. oh well. wheres my wrench? Ram-Man 12-03-2006, 02:55 PM Well not alot of progress but I have been working on completing the rear trailing arms I built. Here are a couple pics. Ron 586 12-03-2006, 03:11 PM Looking good. This guy had more truck parts laying around than he knew what to do with. Captain Knievel 03-10-2007, 11:04 PM If I ship my '70 out there with my credit card taped to the dash, will you do all that for me? I'm going to be watching this for inspiration! kbs71 03-11-2007, 01:40 AM See there's the option that I didn't get with my truck. That credit card taped to the dash option. Boy if i only had that.... Ram-Man 03-31-2007, 06:47 PM As my thread now reads SWB build thread. I decided to chop it down. You can see the grade 8 bolts across the top. It's tough to tell because it's all black, but you can see it if you look close. OLDIRON69 04-04-2007, 04:12 PM One sweet truck! Great progress!!! :metal: Ram-Man 04-04-2007, 04:14 PM Thanks racinjason and jimmydean like the other thread says that racinjason posted I bought the ece frame stiffeners and bolted them in. I dont think there is any advantage or disadvantage to bolt or weld them in. oscareltemblo 06-04-2007, 10:32 PM Good work what are the front brakes from? culookn 06-19-2007, 02:20 PM nice build. I have the caliper brake conversion brackets myself. what size bolts did you use to bolt the calipers to the brackets? oscareltemblo 06-28-2007, 12:48 AM are the front brakes the oem ?? Ram-Man 07-15-2007, 09:46 PM are the front brakes the oem ?? Sorry Guys I haven't even read my own thread. The front brakes are 73 and up style. I bought the whole front end kit from performanceonline which included drop spindels, ball joints, tie rods, tie rod adjusters, calipers, rotors, pads, bearings and other misc. The rear calipers are mounted with 12mm I think. "impala ss rear calipers" Here are a couple update pics. I finally got the motor and trans completed and set into place. 350 4 bolt punched .040 over, crank reground, align bored, mild cam, RHS torker heads, full roller rockers, and Edelbrock eps intake. Trans was complete overhaul and a B & M shift kit installed and a TCI sizzler torque converter. 53sparks 07-18-2007, 09:59 PM great job ram man i like those valve covers, it sure is nice to see a clean shop! rick0312 09-06-2007, 09:25 PM Wow that looks great! Ram-Man 09-08-2007, 10:18 PM Here are a few update pics. Not alot happening just alot of parts collecting for winter work. I got the pulley set up done it's all billlet from Zoops, power steering gear and pump, working on a fuel cell and started running brake lines and fuel lines. I also got all my cab pieces including the Goodmark complete floor with supports. I waited 3 months to get the floor with supports I guess it was the first official shipment of these at the end of July. The floor looks like a nice piece. 53sparks and I picked up a 68 for a $100 that I am going to use the hood and grille from to get the 68 look. Still hunting for rust free oem doors or I may go with a new set. David Flores 09-08-2007, 10:56 PM Really nice. What fuel cell is that? Ram-Man 09-08-2007, 11:09 PM Really nice. What fuel cell is that? Fuel cell is from Summit Racing (generic drag cell) I will most likely have to move the fill hole in it. I'm not quite sure where though. Some kind of bed fill. brossow 10-16-2007, 08:41 PM I also got all my cab pieces including the Goodmark complete floor with supports. I waited 3 months to get the floor with supports I guess it was the first official shipment of these at the end of July. The floor looks like a nice piece. Don't mean to be nosy but wondering where you purchased the floor and how much it set you back. (I see you can get it direct from Goodmark @ $500 but wondered if there was a less expensive source.) I already bought the floor pans and supports for my cab, not knowing the full floor was in production, but would consider going that route and saving myself a LOT of work. Brent chevy72blu 04-04-2008, 03:39 AM Wow, this thread really opened my eyes to a few projects that Ive been thinking about. Excellent build and documentation, its gonna be SWEET! I have a few questions. 1) Your frame stiffeners- Can you give me the dimensions of them? (height/thickness). I can just order the c-channel myself and cut it down - or I may be able to find some at my dad's metal shop. I've been meaning to do this for a long time. 2) Your trailing arms- Im converting my 72 swb from leafs to trailing arms pretty soon. Im pretty sure I can make my own cross member and arms, although all I know about this type of suspension if what I have seen in pics. Could you give me the dimentions of the arms you made, as well as how far from the rear of the frame the cross member should be? How do you go about securing the rear to the top of the arms? Only a U bolt? It seems pretty self explanatory about welding the spring perches to the top of the rear end, but what does the perch on the underside of the frame look like? Lastly, where are you going to mount your shocks? Sorry, I know im requesting a lot of information. I'd be hapy to paypal you a few bucks for your troubles! It will be a few months before I tackle this, I just want to start getting information together. Thanks man! Its really appreciated! terrellautosports 05-21-2008, 07:36 AM Fuel cell is from Summit Racing (generic drag cell) I will most likely have to move the fill hole in it. I'm not quite sure where though. Some kind of bed fill. on the fuel cell. what are you going to use for a full sending unit? thirdstreettito 10-08-2008, 08:27 PM Any updates? Ram-Man 10-08-2008, 08:41 PM Nothing I put this thing in the back corner and now I doing a budjet build on a 69 GMC shorty. Ram-Man 10-08-2008, 08:53 PM I guess I should read a little more often. The floor was $500, the fuel cell is from Summit and the sending unit came with it. I put this project on hold last year when I bought a 65 Impala last fall that was in pretty decent shape and did a little to that and have been driving it this summer on and off for fun. Then I found a 69 GMC that I am working on now. bad68bowtie 10-08-2008, 09:54 PM '65 Impala you say? Pictures? Ram-Man 10-08-2008, 10:25 PM '65 Impala you say? Pictures?
