I think we should have second 67-72chevytrucks.com National Meet in 2007!!!! I was not a member when the first one was held and would love to have one so we could get together. Maybe somewhere in the middle of the U.S so it makes it easy for more to come from all around the country. Maybe Denver? Where was the first one held? How many people attended and was it? If it was more east or west did people come from all around? Just my thoughts but we have the greatest people here on the board and I would love to meet you all in person and to see all of these great trucks that are on here.

Yep, as a matter of fact I do. It's a 1963 Chevy 46 passenger. Ain't but one problem with it that I know of, the last time I drove it was 1982 and I have been storing parts in it ever since. But if they come up with a 67-72 national meet I would be up for renting a 15 passenger van and splitting the cost to make the trip.

No Kidding! 1/4 Tank of go juice, huh?

I'd be very cool with Denver. Have family and friends in the area. Lodging would be cheap.

Us Left Coasters could caravan along I-80, I-15 & I-70. Hook up in Grand Junction and turn truck lover heads thru the Eisenhower!! Photos at Estes and Granby.

Sweeeeet!!

if someone is serious about doing this. Please let Josh or myself know. It takes aprox 6-10 months to plan the event to be able to get good rates. Neither of us have the time to do it right now. SO with that said.. if anyone wants to head up a team to try n plan one out (pref a lil closer then denver ;) ) Let us know and we will help you all we can.

Went to Google and found that Lebanon Ks is considered center of continental United States. The closest major city that might have an attraction that we could meet at is Kansas City, Ks. or Wichita, Ks. Of course that's going to make it hard on folks from northern Maine, and northern Washington, southern california and southern Florida. Then factor in the members from Canada and others from outside our borders. Having one event and calling it THE OFFICAL 67-72.COM MEET will be a hard call and one I'm glad that I won't have to make. I will make every effort to attend wherever and whenever it happens.

kansas city would be pretty central, or st louis.

i think we should pick some little tiny town and put it on the map, just like every year the camaro's go to michigan, harleys go to wisconsin and sturgis, and the winnebagos go to forest city Iowa.

every year, the 67-72 chevy trucks go to Lebanon KS

the last one had I think 40ish total, with 25 or so for all of the days. The reason it was in Indy, was we have close to as many Candian mambers and USA members.. so for a Centralized meet, you have to count that in. And yep some did come.
James your idea sounds good to me ;) :hm:

i might be willing to work on a meet here in missouri, the town i work in is pevely, missouri its about 20 min. south of st.louis. i have connections with some people within the city government that has been wanting to get a carshow or such started they would be very up to something like this its close to several hotels and even a koa campground and even a dirt oval track for some eve. entertainment i know one member of the board here is even the president of the local chevy/gmc truck club

Ok, Not to throw a wrench in the deal, But...
I'm going to have a regional get together in early June, either the 9th-10th weekend or the 16th-17th weekend. Either weekend there are already things going on in the area. I live in Rapid City, South Dakota... In the beautiful Black Hills area... local sites are Mount Rushmore, the still in progress Crazy Horse Monument, the Famous Deadwood Gambling Town, as well as Sturgis, SD. Sturgis is having a City Cruise Night one of those 2 weekends. There are alot of things going on here that week of June. So, I thought it would be a good time to get people in the nearby area together.
I'm not saying we should make this a National thing. I'm just saying the Black Hills are centrally located for the western side of the country if you include Canada. We are approximately 6 hrs from Denver, 9 hrs from Minneapolis, 12 from Salt Lake City.
I will be posting more info in early 2007 (January or early February)
You can also watch the info in the Northwest Region Threads...

They would let us camp there as well.
Just a thought.

Missery works for me too, but when? It's hard enough to plan our TN regions
meets around car shows so how and when are you planning or thinking of it?
I'm not trying to be negative, but I have had 3 regions meets at my place &
it takes ALOT of planning, scheduling it around shows is the hardest part, If
you can schedule it with a major show then it dramatically helps everyone ;)

As long as it does not inter fear with Truck shows, Regions meets, and
Family vacations it might be doable, picking the right time is crucial, &
also keep in mind that you need plan as far ahead as possible, if you
are to make it a success you will need to do alot of work very soon ;)

I have been kicking some things around and trying to come up with a idea/plan for the second 67-72.com Nats/meet. What I post here is for discussion purposes only and not trying to run the show. What do you think about labor day weekend. It is far enough away for plans to be made and finalised. It is a national holiday so people should be able to get time off from work and have travel time to get there. Where to have it? No matter where it is held it is going to be a long drive for some and short for some. I posted earlier about the center of the United States being in Lebanon Ks. but it started crawling east with a general consensus voting for Mo. We have had offers from a board member who has connections with a city that might welcome our club. Also we have another board member with a 80 acre farm and plenty of room. We have no shortage of options we just need to get Input from those members who are going to make an effort to attend and not blow smoke and not show up. I had my first regional meet in July this year and had a pretty good turnout and If anyone was disappointed they didn't tell me. But for whatever reason I had almost 40% that were coming turn into no show. So folks let's get down to it and find out who, where, when, and how many. As I posted earlier I'm in where ever and whenever.

There is no one place or date that is going to please everyone, so someone's just got to step up, get Josh's approval, and do it. Missouri is a pretty central location, and with Boss having the space, would be easier to plan, but I agree with Luv that it would help our turnout if it were combined with a show of some sort. I, like Ron, am curious about the size/motels of Norwood. If nothing else, maybe we could have our own show in town, and use Boss's place to gather/camp? Just throwing out some ideas.

I will support any decision 100% and I will help promote it, however I may or
may not be able to actually attend depending on when it is, My calender fills
up really fast, I will say this though, I spent months and month planning the
event at my place, and something will always come up the day / week that
it happens, that usually means you are going to loose 35-55% as no shows,
so keep that in mind as well, alot of people including Josh have planned all
kinds of things on here in the past, but participation is the key to success.

*And for anyone wondering, YES I will have a 4th annual meet in the fall

Now is the time to let your thoughts be known. Please don't sit and watch this meet get planned then tell us we did it all wrong. We want the largest number of people happy and we'll hope if your wishes don't make the cut that you will go along with the majority. I've heard 25 to 40 people made the first one. We want to at least double that. So get to talking.

Well, nobody's got their show schedules posted for 2007 so I'm on
the fence ready to jump either way, but I have 2 major family trips
in June so I will be broke that month, Personally I think something
this big would be better combined with a Holiday, but that is just
me thinking out loud, how many people are planning to make the
effort? what months are the best for everyone? again I'm just on
the thinking out loud part, you cannot please everyone for sure, I
think you need to throw 3-5 dates out there, make it where they
have the opportunity to choose multiple answers, and have a cut
off date way way in advance of what the actaul dates will be, I'm
not sure when would be best, what time of yr was the Indy meet?

thats the dates we used in Indy Luv. Lotsa bail outs due to the holiday, but doable.

It took us 11 months of working with the hotel and vendors etc to get the last one done.. and planning pre that. We can throw this together easily with all who want to help. The first thing needed is an actual team to discuss who what where and when and go from there.

June is good due to weather, July is easier with vacations usually, August is asking for heat stroke but fun none the less and September kids go back to school, so for any major travel that leaves alot out.

What is planned for July now? I know Rons is July 21 (again kickass day bubba :) ) What else?
